MPAA Blames BitTorrent for Star Wars Distribution

Idiots. Lets blame computers for its spread.

Oh, and when the next gen console mods start, you'll see them blaming consoles as well.

I wonder if there comes a point where someone, anyone, within the MPAA realizes they are idiots...

If it wasn't for him, Star Wars could have never leaked.

 that's probably who they'll start blaming next

Well .. if he never made it ... there wouldn't be anything to leak

Problem fixed.

Wait ... I blame the MPAA for all movie leaks.

STOP MAKING MOVIES and you don't hav eto worry about it

Err, did they ignore the RECORD BREAKING FIRST DAY TAKINGS OF $50,000,000?
Or does making a new record in takings not mean anything?
Yes, clearly the movie industry is going down the sh!tter, quite clearly.
$50,000,000 shows this. Yes, $50,000,000 is a crap amount to get on opening day, since it's "only" a record amount.

Bunch of retards.
Especially as some dude had to steal the movie, and Bittorrent isn't a sentient being, so couldn't have stolen it itself, and had to be helped by a human.

It's a freakin work print, who the hell cares if someone watches it. It's not like the 2 DVD extended edition was leaked.

This is one particular torrent that I've avoided.. I knew they would be watching it like hawks. The other day, on a very famous torrent site, the number of leechers for ROTS was up to 26500 people 😛

While I agree with you that RIAA and MPAA are nasty organizations and not always the 'brightest', nothing they do or say, nor the record earnings of the movie, justify the thieves that are stealing it.

Two addresses are listed at the bottom; wonder what they'd do if they received ten letters say "You're a fvcking moron and so are the rest of the employees in company you work for!"

1.) Is it stealing? Yes.
2.) Is stealing most of Hollywood's movies today like stealing used tires out of a burning tire landfill? Pretty much, yes.
3.) Is Hollywood hurting? No.

A TON of people who downloaded the movie will go to see Star Wars in the theatre. Why? Because it's Star Wars, and Star Wars makes people happy.
Very FEW people who downloaded Crossroads will go to see it in the theatres. Why? Because Britney Spears makes B-rated porn look like Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Personally, I see it this way. If Hollywood stops producing crap, it will show in the box office results. But as long as they're making sequels to movies like "Anaconda" just to pad their profit margins and fail to adopt new technologies, they will be losing out...big time.

The quality isn't good enough to stop me from going to the theater to see it a second time on a massive screen with THX. I already saw it at midnight opening day too.

I saw the workprint of 'the hulk' before it came out in theaters so I knew that was going to be a steaming pile and didn't waste my time/money seeing in theaters once, let alone twice.

The solution to all the industries concerns about movies being pirated it to make QUALITY movies that people will actually want to go to the theater to see!

either they are superfans that gotta see and don't care if they spoil their experience. or people that are so cheap they would suffer through horid camcorder movies instead of the real thing...either way..no loss.

BitTorrent only brings piracy to noobs, it's still not the be-all-end-all in the scene, not even close in fact.

Again, if you're using public trackers, this holds true. However, those with access to topsites have more access to anything than any of the naysayers will on newsgroups or IRC.

It's just how things work. The top of the chain gets the best selection.
