I have a friend that wants to play MP3's on his home stereo but his computer is on a different floor. He doesn't like the idea of a DVD player that plays MP3's, I guess he's happy with his progressive scan player and wants more storage than that. How would something like a Nomad sound? I figure 20GB should give him enough room... What he likes the idea of is something that connects to the sound card and broadcasts the MP3's over radio waves down to the reciever, but I'm not sure anything like that exists.

The geek in me tells him to build another computer, use wireless kb/mouse/networking, video card w/ tv out, and hook it up to the stereo that way... He's not as geeky as me...

Any other ideas?

i saw some wireless mp3 transmittor thing at bestbuy the other day. Said it hooks up to your computer and projects to your sterio through walls and floors and stuff, take a look at that.

Sounds expensive. Can't cost more then the nomad though. I'd go with the nomad since it'll do the same thing and yet you can carry it around too.

You don't happen to remember the name of it, do ya? He found this, but we can't tell how far it would transmit..

edit: Found something by Turtle Beach.

The Audiotron is the best solution I have found. I have one and it works great. It is also from Turtle-Beach and it hooks up thru a network. I don't trust wireless devices for this type of solution because the sound quality will definitely suffer.
