MP3's skip when processor is at full output

I've seen this happen on very slow and very fast processors, why does this happen and how can it be fixed? Thanks.

you mean when the processor is running @ 100%? That because MP3s need to be decoded, it takes about 1-2% of a processors cycles. If all of them are used up with another program, then can't decode the MP3

mine does this when im playin them and rippin a CD with sudio catalyst but only then. strange??? and then winamp will stop workin until li restart

its because you dont have DMA enabled and the IDE bus is taking up all of the processor cycles. Also plllleeeaaase don't use Audio Catalyst
check out r3mix

I have almost always attributed it to onboard sound, or a cheap sound card, which offloads work to the CPU.

My friends shiny new 900mhz HP did this right out of the box good deal!
My other friend has a crappy 166mhz, but a half decent sound card, no skipping whatsoever.

Same case with a buncha other comp's i've dealt with as well
Hope this helps!
