MP3's lost thier icons??

Basically says it all.......out of no where my MP3's lost thier assoicated icon. I use winamp classic, so i went in there and checked and its still the default, hit apply.... still doesnt work. Restarted, ect ect..... went into folder properties and looked up the file extension, shows the icon, and winamp.

All the mp3s open fine, the only problem is (i could live with out the icons-maybe) when i scroll through my huge mp3 folder it used to be seamless, now it stops jerks and lags and the explorer.exe process takes up to 99% if i scroll a lot at once.

Any idea what can be doing this or how to fix?

You must have a virus or spyware running on your computer. Have you done a scan with adaware, spybot, microsoft antispyware, etc. lately? Are you running a firewall and antivirus?

I haven't had any spyware or viruses on my comp in years. However! the otherday some stupid program installed some but i quickly removed it. I can't recall if this is when my problems started happening.

I have no extra porcesses running and adaware/spybot/antivirus are all 100% clean.

Well obviously something is running causing those spikes. Update your software and do a couple scans. Also, I would download and run hijackthis. Post the log here and we'll pick away at it.

no, the spikes were in explorer.exe which means it was a shell type problem not a background hidden process.

eitherway i was tired of other things too, i just formatted and reinstalled. im on the comp now
