What is a good program for ripping cd's to wav and then converting them to mp3. I used to use Audio Catalyist but now it only seems to want to rip by analong and at 1x. That sucks. So does anyone know of a better one and where I can get a sharware version to try it out. Thanks

Why .wav then mp3? Why not straight to MP3's? If you want to do that - use MusicMatch. It's quick and accesses the internet and gets the titles of the songs and everything for you.

Eitherway is fine with me, as long as I can get my cd's to mp3 at 192kb
I will go check out Musicmatch
Thanks

Depending on your computer speed and CD-ROM MusicMatch is really fast. I can rip a whole CD in under 10 minutes.

Warning: This will cause you to want a larger hard drive for all your MP3's.

I just ordered another one.

Well I am using MusicMatch right now, it ripping at about 5.9x it says. I am using Pioneer 303s SCSI DVD drive.
I have 47gig free, so i doubt I have to worry about space for awhile.
Ben: What I mean is when you press grab and look where it is saying how fast it is ripping it is ripping at 1x.

Thanks

Well, what I meant is "why". Did you recently add some new hardware and it slowed down? What happened?

Are you by any chance running Windows 2000. I ask this because Win2k doesn't have a built in ASPI driver so you can only rip cd's a 1x in analog. If this is the case do a search on the forum for ASPI and u will find a link to the file and your rip speed will be normal again

Sorry Ben: I changed sound cards from a MX300 to a Live!, and did a fresh install of W2000.
So Slayer: It does not come with an ASPI Layer. I did not know that, Guess you learn something new every day. Guess I bettter go give that old search button a workout. Thanks everybody

No problem Schola
Once u find the files it should fix it up took me from 1x ripping back to my normal 13x ripping. One thing i did have to do though was reinstall audiocatalyst before a could select ASPI ripping just letting you know incase you encounter that problem

I'm encountering a similar problem. Running Win2K with SP1, have the latest version of Nero 5 and the Nero MP3 ripper plug in. By default, this version of Nero installs a ASPI driver in the Nero folder. I also have AudioCatalyst and AudioGrabber, all are ripping to MP3 at 1X.

When I run the ASPIchk utility it says "no devices detected, can't install ASPI" which is pretty puzzling to me.

What folder should it reside in so I can try manually adding it to WINNT?

Using Kenwood 72X and HP8100i with Sony firmware flash on master IDE 1 and 2. Hard drives are on a Promise 66 controller.

Well I just got an application that supposed updated my aspi layer. However I think I saw something mentioning Adeptic(sp). Hopefully it will still work with my card, a Diamond Fireport 40.
