MP3 players that support Vorbis and/or HE-AAC?

I really appreciate the quality that the Vorbis and AAC (unprotected) codecs offer over mp3, especially at bitrates of 48 kbps- 96 kbps I'm not an audiophile). Are there any good players that support either of these formats and that can be found used or new for $100? Looking for at least 512MB capacity to replace my old Rio Forge Sport.

What kind of memory do you need? I hear the Samsung Yepp MT6X is supposed to be pretty good. The 512 mb version should cut it close to the $100 price limit.

512 is just enough for me. I'd like more, but for the price, I don't expect more. The Yepp MT6X is looking pretty good to me, I think I'll go for it. Thanks!

EDIT: I think I'll get it from here, since the price looks good and it has free shipping.

iPod Shuffle will do AAC and be well under budget.

iPod Shuffle won't play HE-AAC. Only LC-AAC.

I wasn't even sure if there was a portable mp3 player that does HE-AAC, just asking. I'm happy with Vorbis. PurdueRy, the iAUDIO 5 looks pretty hot (nice colors), but I never heard of the company and they got a lower rating on CNET compared to the Yepp. Do you or does anyone you know have one?

I own one, they are very highly regarded players for sound quality. The main complaints on CNET if I remember correctly were controls, which aren't THAT tough to master. The player has played all my OGG files without problem. The color changing screen is a fun feature to mess around with and it has many EQ, and other sound options. The company Is Cowen or Jetaudio(Cowen is the international name) they are a pretty big company. They just aren't sold in stores often. I have had no problems with my player(1 gig version) and it has performed flawlessly

I believe Excelsior here also owns one..

Nice, thanks! I read the PC Magazine review, and they said it sounds great with Shure e2c's, which I happen to own.

You can aldo look into the G3 and U2, same player, different looks. I think the 5 is the only one with a standard AAA battery however.

G3

5

u2

For a couple bucks over 100 you can bump up to the 1 gig version in some of these from a quick search on prices. Just read up on the features of each and find the one that best suits you.

The G3 plays for 50 hours which is pretty awesome. The new U3 also supports FLAC(I don't think many people would care...). The u2 is very similar to the 5 just with a built in battery. There are other differences but they are all in the links
