just finished reading a bunch of reviews on it, and most said it was so- so at best. For another $40.00. you can get the top rated RCA RP2410.

"bore the XXXX..." TimeKeeper did you imply adult material? Ha.

Anyway my question to resinboy, does this RCA unit play VCD, too?

No...the Napa is the only one that also plays vcds. I have a friend that has this...it is reletively big and bulky for a portable, but that is expected considering that it also plays vcds. MP3 CD quality is good...but the vcd quality could be better. In high action scenes, it tends to skip...it also has really bad skip protection for anything...I think a 15 second buffer.

Does anyone know where I can check out or buy the RCA RP2410 that resinboy

mentioned. I did a search on pricewatch and RCA.com but found nothing.

Thanks

You do realize that the 309 is an older model, 310 is the latest and has improved skip protection as well as support for more cd-rw discs. It is available at MP3 Solutions MP3 Solutions for $169.99.

I would carefully read reviews of ALL of the mp3 players mentioned in this thread. If you're dying for portable VCD (which i personally don't see the need for), then this is a decent brand at a reasonable price. But if you're wanting an mp3/cd player, i wouldn't consider ANY of these. Check out mp3.com's hardware reviews and read some of the users comments. I've done a lot of reading on these since they hit the market several months ago, and most consumers seem to flock towards the Pine D'music SM-200c. The main reason most music fans go for this model is ID3 tag support...if you don't know what id3 is, you WANT it. When you have over 100 songs on a CD, is a track number enough to remember which song is which? Nope!! ID3 tag support allows you to see the artist name and song title on the LCD screen. Most of the major brands have up and coming models that will offer ID3 tag support, and snazzier jazzier functions i'm sure...but if you're itching like i am for one of these....get a good one!
(cheapest i've seen it is 200 tho *sniff sniff* )

I agree with Sinnerwolf about id3. I'm kicking myself for not jumping on the Memorex MPD8505CP when it was in stock at Amazon. Oh well, now I wait.

Do any of these players support playlists?

What good is an MP3 player with 200 MP3's on it if you can't do some sort or organizations?

if you want reviews of over 30 different mp3 players that use CDs as storage medium, go to dmusic.com hardware section. The highest rated mp3 player currently available in America is the one made by Classic, available at Circuit City B&M locations. I've seem them there myself for about $100.

The only problem is that the NAPA can only take mp3s at or under 128Kbps, Mine are all 164 or 196. Big Drawback.
