MP3 player - stand-alone - plug in

I need a stand-alone MP3 player that will continuously play mp3. I need it to be able to function on it's own and have a headset jack. I guess I can just get one of those little ones that have an AC adapter but will they last being on for months at a time?

Any suggestions? I've been looking but the best I can find is a shelf system that will play cd's and cd with mp3's recorded on them. I'd rather have a small HD or even ram than rely on a CD (last one broke down after a few month's of play.

Look for a solid state one. There are a few that have AC adapters. Why exactly does it need to be run for months at a time on it's own?

solid state (for reliability) + lots of batteries = your solution

Batteries are not an option, need the adapter.
