Ok I have a Iriver H320 on the way (from FS/T) and Im getting my mp3 collection ready to move over to it via windows explorer since it will act like a hard drive on my computer for transferring.... anyways though I will be adding to my collection both at home and work through allofmp3.com mainly and I keep all my songs on my personal server as well as the on the iriver but I will buy stuff at work and transfer it to my iriver and bring it home and since I want to keep my collection complete in 2 places (to avoid the hard drive going on in either place) I was wondering if there is some sort of windows program that would "sync" my two collections when I tell it to......

I know there is something builtin with windows XP that will sync files but not sure if it will do mp3's and since I have about 6 gigs worth how fast it would be so I was looking for some suggestions.

The Iriver website doesnt say much about its software other than it acts like a usb thumb drive on your computer (which is one of the main reasons I got it) so if it does have a utility like this that would be great but their website doesnt say.

sorry, but I don't think the irivers really act like portable flash drives. You gotta install software, which kinda defeats the purpose...

Their Quickstart guide certainly does make it look like it would.... http://www.iriveramerica.com/download/H300-QSG.pdf

it does ask to put install cd in first but i figured it was just for a driver (since its not really a standard usb drive).

I know WMP10 is also supposed to be able to sync too but am unsure if it works well. that irivium program looks intersting (thx, that was the type of thing i was looking for).

Doesn't that make it suck as a portable drive if you gotta install drivers? My creative muvo TX just plugs in and shows up as another hd.

The iRiver DOES (iHP1xx series at least) show up as a prtable HDD, I have had no problems.
The only thing you need software for (1xx series) is for the database on the iRiver itself.
I would ASSUME that the 3xx is the same.

Windows 98 needs drivers, because it sucks, but 2k/XP don't.

I dont know if it requires them (may be a win98 thing like it is with USB drivers) but the fact that it shows up as a "hard drive" lead me to beleive it was a standard USB like device, but I dont have it yet to know for sure. I do know it has a USB in that is capable of storing photos off your camera w/o software so it might be a standard USB device.

Mine shows up as a 40GB P: drive, exactly the same as any other drive would.
Sometimes it can be iffy and delete random files when I copy them (mostly firmware upgrade files).

Looks like I'm wrong. ign review of it said it didn't at time, but a firmware update allowed it to.

use the same program for my iaudio m3. used it for the first time earlier today, worked like a charm and is a cinch to use. creating profiles and options galore, oh my!

the iriver should install just like a hard drive. if it doesnt, look for the ums (universal mass storage) firmware (my iriver flash player needed it to act as a hard drive).

The earlier H1xx-series irivers were all recognized as USB HDDs. I don't imagine that the H3xx series will be any different.
