Sansa e270 + additional 2GB card.
I really wish the Nike+ thingy worked with it...that's the only reason I'd buy an iPod. 🙁

Very motivational, and cool features!
If you run outside, you can moniter your distance to a fairly accurate level. Estimates calories burnt, and my favorite feature, The powersong mode. Basically, you preset a song as the "powersong", and when you need that extra boost, hold down the middle button for 2 seconds, and it'll play that song. Best of all, when the powersong is done, it resumes where the last song left off.
If you press the middle button once, then a female or male voice tells you how far you've ran, your pace, and something else. It's cool cause' you don't have to try to look at the screen while running!

me too. 🙂
very easy to use, and a solid piece of equipment.
You can affix it to your shoelaces with some homemade contraptions, there is also a bit of a cottage industry providing inexpensive holsters/clips to do the same. It's reported that it functions just as well/accurately clipped to the laces as in the sole.Originally posted by: Shortcut

that sounds awesome! i went to the nike+ site after reading your post to learn more about it. the marketing literature on the site implies that i'd need a pair of nike+ shoes to put the sensor in. where would folks put the sensor if they don't have a pair of nike+ shoes?

Sansa e250 w/ an additional 2GB Micro SD card. small, fairly cheap. It seems pretty robust. I've had it for a year and had no serious quality problems with it. Don't have to stick iTunes on my PC, either.

how do you prefer to carry it? is it more convenient to attach this to an armband, or just clip it to your shorts?
I can't speak for him, but my Sansa is clipped to my shorts/pants in a cheapo DLO neoprene jacket. The jacket also came with an armband attachment, but I found it incredibly distracting (cable flopping around near my face, band either constricting my arm or sliding off). I run the headphone cable under my shirt to keep it from flopping around too much.Originally posted by: Shortcut

niiiiiiiiiiiice! do you just use windows explorer to transfer your music to the sansa?
oh, one more question, how do you carry the sansa on your runs (armband, waistband, etc)?

I got a yp-mt6 from samsung. It works fine and does the job. Takes a AA battery and last about 35 hours. Maybe it could be smaller and have cleaner voice recordings.
