mp3 player for jogging?

what mp3 player do you use while jogging? what do you like/dislike about your device?

i'm shopping for a mp3 player to use on my runs. the new ipod shuffle looks like a very affordable option, but i'd love to hear of the other mp3 players you folks use!

I got a yp-mt6 from samsung. It works fine and does the job. Takes a AA battery and last about 35 hours. Maybe it could be smaller and have cleaner voice recordings.

I LOVE mine. Can't feel it at all when I'm wearing it.

iPod Nano (first or second gen - doesn't matter. (1st gen is cheaper)), coupled with a Nike Plus kit.

Very motivational, and cool features!

If you run outside, you can moniter your distance to a fairly accurate level. Estimates calories burnt, and my favorite feature, The powersong mode. Basically, you preset a song as the "powersong", and when you need that extra boost, hold down the middle button for 2 seconds, and it'll play that song. Best of all, when the powersong is done, it resumes where the last song left off.

If you press the middle button once, then a female or male voice tells you how far you've ran, your pace, and something else. It's cool cause' you don't have to try to look at the screen while running!

No need for an MP3 player, I just sing when I'm out jogging.

Same here. For some reason, I always feel like singing "Copa Cabana" when I'm out jogging.

....But that's if I'm not jogging w/one of the dogs. If I bring a dog, I substitute their names into the song (Her name was Pepper/she was a showgirl...)

But when in the gym on a treadmill, stairmaster, or elliptical, I use an Ipod Nano

That's exactly what I've got. I'm pretty sure the Nike+ only works on the 2nd Gen though. Another cool feature of the Nike+ is that when you sync up, it uploads it to your account at Nike.com and you can track your progress, set goals for distance, time, calories, etc. and it's very helpful and motivating.

OP consider a 1Gig Nano over a shuffle. Lots more features for your money.

MSI Megastick, 256 meg. It is a cheap ass player, and I have a pair of cheap ass headphones on it. I don't care if someone steals it while I'm at the gym or I drop it and it breaks while I'm running.

I have a Rio Carbon for MP3s at my desk, but there's no way I'm running with a hard drive based player.

Sansa e250 w/ an additional 2GB Micro SD card. small, fairly cheap. It seems pretty robust. I've had it for a year and had no serious quality problems with it. Don't have to stick iTunes on my PC, either.

Yeah, I just use a Sansa.

I never liked gimmicky crap that was neat, but not really practical. (Which is every Apple audio player, IMO)

There is no point to have a player with a screen if you are just going to be using it while jogging, and that Nike thing sounds like a really big waste of money, but then again, I don't have much of it, so I tend to be more practical. 😉

I have a nike kit too and it's sweet. Be careful if you don't buy the bike shoes and get one of the little clips that holds the sensor to your laces. Mine fell apart after 3K and it was dusk, so I lost my nike sensor. I spoke to the people who make the clip, and they were good enough to send me a new clip and a whole new iPod sensor kit.

The bike kit actually makes you want to do more mileage, especially if you set up a challenge with a friend. The only other thing I'd say is go for some decent in-ear earphones that hold steady as you run.

The graph and run info you pick up afterwards is also sweet. I'd like to see that compared to you buddy's data though.... you kno, who's got the best average K/mile time and all that.
