MP3 player for backup

I currently have a 16 gb iPhone that works great as an MP3 player, but it's a corporate phone so I never have a sense of permanence with it. I also am somewhat of an OS fetishist, so my main desktop has gone through 3 formats/re-partitions in the past few months as I play with various flavors of linux and Windows...

I back up my music to an external hard drive but sometimes I forget, and end up losing a few dozen albums in the process...

I would love a preferably hard drive based MP3 player that allows me to simply backup all my music and copy them back to a hard drive, if need be.

It doesn't need to be too fancy and battery life isn't that big of a deal since I have my iPhone on me at all times and would probably only use the other mp3 player in my car.

Suggestions?

Look for an MP3 player that has a SD slot. You can use SD media for back up and portability. SD media can be had up to 32GB currently, and 64GB is in the offing.
