MP3 Music Manager

Does anyone know of a good piece of software for managing an MP3 collection.

Problems that I have are:

1. Identification
File has a name like Artist - Track 1. I know I have heard the song just dont know where.

2. Renaming
I want to be able rename files according to some criteria

3. Removing Duplicates
I have tons and tons of dupes - some named very strangely - any good way of removing these.

4. Automation
This is probably the most important if the application can connect to some sort of service that will make this tedious process of renaming / organizing much easier.

For example it could generate a hash of a file and compare it to some known hash - and if they match then offer that as a way of renaming the file.

I checked out Helium Music Manager - and its not bad - but its still a very slow manual process.

I remember a long long time ago - I had downloaded *something* - and it did all of these things - used some sort of fuzzy logic or something to help me organize.

thanks in advance.

1. MusicBrainz - automatically tags, and renames files, and id3 tags. Very useful.

2. See question #1

3. Once you have a consistent naming schema between all of your music, you can use iTunes to remove duplicates. This works very well, especially once you have processed your catalog through MusicBrainz.

4. MusicBrainz ftw.
