I'm looking for a simple freeware prog to make MP3s from a CD with. What is a quick, easy prog to use?

ignore mOoGotMilk. use the latest LAME beta with the RazorLame frontend, and rip with Exact Audio Copy.

Musicmatch Jukebox rips at limited speeds for free.

I've purchased the plus version and never looked back.

<< Screw the WMP bloatware. CDEx >>

---this is the correct answer to your question...a question that seems to come up at least twice a month...cdex uses the lame encoder and it is freeware...

You don't need the RazorLame front end. Exact Audio Copy with rip and then launch the external decoder all by itself.

Check out here for more info.

edit: URL fixed.

If you're not a "poweruser" in the respect of lossy compression, CDex or Musicmatch are what I recommend. If you're a tweaknut and want control over all aspects of ripping & encoding, EAC & maybe with RazorLame for encoding are what I recommend.

That's what I use... works great - near perfect copies of the CD to MP3. Just use EAC and set it up to call the Lame encoder once it's done ripping the CD. The instructions at r3mix.net tell you exactly how to get it set up.
