We need more information. How much memory do you need? Do you need to be able to add more memory. Do you want a large full feature player or will a small mini player do? Do you want a full size screen with a menu?

I have a small mp3 player I use for exercise Sandisk Sansa Clip with 8 GB onboard memory and the ability to add memory sticks to increase capacity. The sound is very good to my ears. I love the small size of it I can just tuck it in my shirt pocket or wherever. Doesn't do videos or anything but great for music.

I agree with domfm, Sandisk Sansa Clip+ plays flac natively, is tiny, dirt cheap (and very frequently on big sales in the Hot Deals sections here or on other other deal boards.), and some versions of it permit adding memory cards. Frankly the only major complaint I've ever heard is some claim the physical clip on it is rather fragile-I've had mine for a couple of years and it's fine, but I baby it.

Since the things are like the size of a matchbook, the screen is, of course, miniscule.

Thanks for those suggestions everyone and Sorry for the late reply and confusion.im looking for an ipod which i can use while jogging and morning walks(Cant use my cellphone,so i guess something like a mini player with a tiny screen will do the job, ofcourse dont want video support).8gb and more is good for me(also Like to have SdMMC support since my playlist is around 11 gb🙂)But my major preference will be the sound quality since im a music lover.thanks.

Widely regarded as best sound quality with native flac and ogg support are Cowan MP3 players.

I think you're confused. You said you "don't want apple Ipod" now you say you do. The Ipod is made by Apple you can't get an Ipod NOT made by Apple......🙂

From your list of requirements, you'd be crazy to get anything but a Sansa Clip or Clip+ (if you need a color screen and microsd card slot) and spend the remaining $50-60 on a backup or media for it.

If we haven't convinced you, go to www.anythingbutipod.com and check for recommendations there.

Also, as far as I know, using your flac files on an ipod can be a frustrating experience. From what I've determined, the best way is to simply convert them all to alac format and surrender yourself to Apple's ecosystem.

Sorry i meant mp3 player(not apple ipod, most people around me call them as ipod even its not made by apple😀)thanks for those suggestions and links!probably going to
buy the sansa clip plus.i heard Cowon makes the best mp3 players,so anything from Cowon thats small and has a better sound quality than sansa clip?

I seem to remember reading that Cowon having durability issues. I'd do some research before I bought one.

iPods don't support FLAC. Apple has their own lossless format. iOS has a FLAC player that looks decent. $10 though.
