Mp3 Discman simple question

I have a sony D-CJ01 mp3 discman. My question is when I turn the volume past 3/4 of the way, it seems to lessen the bass more and more with each increase in the level of volume. At max volume it is mostly trebble. I have done this with all 3 bass settings, is it supposed to do this or should I take it back ?

since its SONY make sure ALVS or whatever its called AVLS is turned off.. its a switch on the side.

The Bass on my sony discman does the same thing. Of course, my ears start bleeding when its loud enough to notice the bass getting quieter....

THat AVLS thing was on before, I didn't know how to turn it off, I'll take a look, thnx.

i believe its' on the inside of the case. Right above the batteries.
