MP3 Crashes Ipod

I have a 5th Gen iPod video and for some reason, one particular mp3 crashes my iPod. I have listened to it before the firmware update, but after the lastest update it would crash. I tried reencoding it in itunes and changing the id3 tag version, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

illegal download! MPAA called.

Ipods actually do play mp3s. Check the folders in windows explorer, mine contains mp3s that play just fine. If you check the "Legal" section in the software it also says "MP3 Codec Licensed by Fraunhofer"

Probably something encoded somewhere in the file that causes a problem. Who knows, maybe there's some corruption somewhere in the file from the transfer, or perhaps just something the ipod "doesn't like".

I've had a few songs that itunes wouldn't accept, but would play fine in FooBar. Re-ripping them fixed my problem.

Edit: Ripped to mp3 w/ EAC.

Well thats funny., being I have my entire CD collection in MP3 format on my HD, and it play just fine and dandy on my iPod.

Taken directly from the iPod suport pages:
You can listen to songs encoded in AAC and MP3 format in iTunes and on your iPod.

Gee, looks as if MP3 is a valid option. Wonder of wonders.

As for the OP problem, I would have to guess that you have invalid characters in the title of the song. Try reburning it with normal characters or change its title somehow.
