Mozilla Thunderbird Woes

I can't seem to receive/send emails.

I have entered all the appropiate information (username, email, mail server) and when I click Get Mail I get:

Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server xxxx.xxxxx.xxx responded:

Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server xxxx.xxxxx.xxx responded: TOP

In Outlook Express, I had to check "My Server Requires Authentication" but I can't find that anywhere in Thunderbird. I have tried enabling "Use secure connection (SSL)" and "Use secure authentication" but it says my connection was refused or this server does not support authentication.

I can login via webmail fine... please help. 🙁

Well, duh. I highly doubt your mail server is xxxx.xxxxx.xxx. 🙂

I don't have TB here at work, but I can check later tonight.

Are you using the exact same login name as listed in CPanel?

For example, I've setup my email account as blueweasel@mydomain.com. But in Thunderbird, I have to use the entire email as my login username. If I use "blueweasel", then I get the same message as you do. But, when I use "blueweasel+apt38.com", it works fine in Thunderbird.

you know I used to have tons of problems with tbird. All of a sudden it would stop sending and receiving etc. But with the new version it all seems to work as it should. Try doing a reinstall of tbird. Back up your email in your profile folder then delete the folder and start fromthe beginning. Later import your email.
