I think I'm just going to stick with Firebird 0.7. Aside from the retarded name from what people are saying it sounds like it needs to mature a bit, and also like they're trying to ad too much crap to it. I agree with Insomniak, I want a stripped down browser with only the most basic and most useful functions built in like the pop-up blocker. I don't need a stupid download manager or anything like that... all I want is a basic web browser.

I have to say, Mozilla missed the boat on this one. It's buggy as hell.

First off, I have no scrollbar on the right - major faux pas. Also, on my navbar, there are no back/forward buttons.

They changed the format for the themes. You need to find an updated version of the theme you are using.

I need to find an updated version of the default theme? You seem to be under the impression that this occurred when I tried to install a custom theme - this was "out of the box" bud.

Try starting with a clean profile. It works fine for me.

Meh, I've downgraded and it's working flawlessly. We'll see how things look at .9

Never liked gestures. Id want to go back and end up opening a new tab or something. Too much trouble to learn, and too slow to beat pressing a button.

i was unsure if i wanted to upgrade to 0.8 because it didn't sound like it had enough to transfer from a 0.8+ nightly build. i mainly updated because of the FireFox name and logo.

- this build is completely fast. it's blazing on my machine. much faster than any earlier version. im impressed.

- also updated to thunderbird 0.5 .. that's nice!

"The file / cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."

Fark comes up fine in IE, what's going on here?

For 0.7 I use Pinball (see address below). Awesome theme - easy on the eyes, but not cartoony as hell like XP and Mac OS (is it just me or does the default art on every modern OS suck heavily?)

Anyway, I did a clean install of 0.8 - I uninstalled .7, deleted the file folders, and cleared out the registry entries, and still got those bugs.

I'll wait for a little more maturation before I upgrade.

To grab Pinball:

what about that trick to block ads from sites like AT? Does that still work with Firefox?

The stylesheet? Yeah. It should never stop working in any future versions of mozilla. Maybe someday it'll even work in IE. ;)

Although I have found that the ultimate solution is a filtering proxy like privoxy.

Does the Google Toolbar extension work in Firefox? If it doesn, I'll upgrade from .7, can't live without that though.

Why? Mozilla block pop up ads without the stupid toolbar and it has integrated google searching

Unfortunately, the version of Pinball on that site hasn't been updated since last September, which means that it won't work with FB .8. An updated version can be found here.

Uh, yes, I realize. He asked what I was using for .7, so I linked him to the .7 version.

Nice name.

Because I like the google toolbar maybe? I don't like the integrated searching in the address bar, I like having the google toolbar where I can easily search groups, images, as well as a get a history. Also, the google toolbar extension for .7 Firebird doesn't have popup blocking, because obvioulsy it's not needed.

FF/FB does not have searching integrated in the address bar. It's two separate entities.

I'd imagine you'd be able to easily search groups, images too depending on the arguments you put in?

Its been a while since I've used the google toolbar on IE, but if " search history" means auto pop-up of past searches based on what letters you type, FB/FF has it.
