What's that sound?

Oh, the sound of one hand clapping.

Maybe your dad will let you be first to drive the 'new' Land Rover.

I can't mow my lawn..........yet. I, all by myself, dug my yard up two weeks ago and laid sod over the whole thing. It's now been a week since I have finished and I all can do is turn my sprinkler system on and watch my beautiful St. Augustine grass grow. :p

Do dig it up and get some sod - or at least put some seed out :)

Half an hour? Dayum. It takes us over 4 hours to cut my own yard (2 acres). I also mow some other yards in town, and the shortest one is an hour. But, I enjoy having large yards.

yeah, i ripped through it. our property is 1/4 acre.. and most of probably 2/3 is grass. the rest is woods and the house.

Last night I wheeled the John Deere 42" out and checked the time. Got back in the house 28 minutes later and that included fertilizing the entire lawn. I love 4th and 5th gear, especially with the mulching blade.

I've got the whole family helping on the lawn today, leveling the blvd, I'm mowing/trimming the hedges & weedeating...

What really sucks is that I'm allergic to nearly everything with chlorophyll in it, nose is already running, right eye itches & I have a slight headache...

Yard work sux:(

take a sample of the dirt to the local Agway,True value, etc.,and have them test,
you may just need some lime/pellitized limestone, and some cheapo fertilizer always help, along with Water. :)

I hear you. I used to lay sod all the time during the summer. St. Augustine is really good grass. We have never had a location that it was suitable for though.

I got sick of mowing the lawn.... ripped out all of the sod. Covered the whole thing with weed stopping fabric. Covered the fabric with lots and lots of mulch (bark)... Planted some shrubs, trees, and perennials. 1 day each spring, I check for any weeds... other than that, it's completely maintenance free. I've since pulled the fabric stuff up from under the mulch.
People comment on how beautiful our yard is.... I smile and think how lazy I am to avoid mowing it :)

yah, over the past few weeks I helped move 23 cubic yards of dirt (13 topsoil, 10 mulch) down a hill (sounds easy . . but not if you let that wheelbarrow get away from you!) through mut (new 3 inch deep ruts in there, now) and dump it . . . The yard was so wet that we could only take half-loads of topsoil at a time . . but the mulch was a peice of cake. And then I carried half of 2400 lbs of humus and manure in their little 40 pound plastic bags to the back yard also . . .

I've had enough yardwork.

I use a John Deere 325 18hp 3x inch deck to mow our ~1 acre lot.

Takes 45-an hour depending on the length of the grass and how fast I go...
