How much do I tip the movers? 2 men for 4 hours. Moving mostly boxes.

$20 each is my guesstimate. Depends how hard-working they are, and their attitudes.

How much are you paying the company? I find movers to be ridiculously priced, but it's a necessity in most cases - and they know it.

Depends on where you are moving to, if stairs are involved, etc. I have had a few big moves in NYC and usually tip 50 bucks per person.

Why would you tip? It is their job and it's not like they are making $2.00 an hour + tips. I have no problem tipping people generously that work in a field that tips are figured into their incme. But I dont think that is the case with movers.

$20 each sounds generous. it probably depends on how much it's costing you

$10 each + drinks+bathroom would probably be sufficient as well

I dont tip movers but I make sure they have plenty of water and access to bathroom. The last time I used movers, they busted their asses and didnt wreck my furniture or gouge my walls. I ended up ordering pizza and soda and offered it to them. These guys are paid well and are costing me an arm and a leg. They are not making a waiter's salary.

I make sure they have cold water.
If they do a good job, $20 each.
I did stiff movers one time because they sucked.

Couldn't you have just locked them up in the basement?
Too obvious. They had an appointment with me. If they didn't show up back at work...

The crap started when they got there, very late. I was getting ready to pull out of my side yard with my boat and they blocked the driveway. I asked the driver (also the boss) to move but he was too busy on the phone with his girlfriend. I got in the truck and moved it and afterwards we had a yelling match because I drove his truck.

We get to the new place and the same guy is on the phone again while everyone else "works". They were all slow and I probably did half the work myself.

The last time we used a different company and they were great.
