Let's see, the traffic pretty much anywhere in central Phoenix sucks. It'll take forever to get anywhere in central Phoenix during the daylight hours. Given that we've got the highest rate of car theft in the country, if you've got a nice car or anything nice on it, make sure you've got a good alarm (and don't be surprised if anything goes missing).

Jobs can be pretty easy to come across here (if you're not looking for a high paying job). There's lots of callcenter work in the area. If I remember right, Safeway, USAA, Discover and Master Card have some callcenters in the area. I don't know if MCI still has a callcenter in the Colonade area (20th st & Camelback).

Um...yes there is. Tons of call center work here. Go to any staffing agency in AZ and that's a majority of what they hire for.

You need to get used to the warm climate. Up to 100F is just fine. Above 110F and it's getting rough.
Remember, it's a dry heat. 😀

I was down in Tucson last November and it was 29. That classifies as "chilly". It doesn't get "cold" until you get into single digits or below.

The people that grew up in phoenix have no clue what cold is. These people will shiver and wear gloves and a hat when it hits below 60F. If you're moving from a cold climate (such as the midwest, like I did last year), you wont' need anything more than a jacket unless you plan to go skiing or up in the mountains. The Valley of the Sun is an accurate name.

Tucson it at a slightly higher altitude than Phoenix. Tucson is at ~2500 feet IIRC.

Not to mention that Phoenix has this nice cloud of smog over the top of it that acts as a blanket at night keeping heat from the day in.

I'm still in that adaptation phase. I can't really comment on it yet. It's big. It's busy. It's dirty. It's smog ridden. It's HOT.

Check back in with me in October when it cools down and I'll be able to give you a better idea. Plus my wife isn't down here for another year and that doesn't help things either 🙁

I've been here for a month, it is damn hot here.... but it's alright...

Currently i'm tryin to get a job at discover cuz i can't find work anywhere else and they pay good.

As for the rest of the info in this thread, it is accurate: nothing to do, golf courses galore, etc...
