Best thing to do is ask the people who live there, now that you're there. I'm sure anyone around the metroplex will be able to tell you where to stay away from.

Stores (grocery, drug, etc) sell beer & wine. Got to go to a liquor store to buy the hard stuff. The good news is that Texas has drive-thru liquor stores! :awe:

The whole closing early on Saturday/opening late on Sunday thing is because you're now in the Bible belt. Can't buy booze before noon on Sunday either. Some major chains, like Walmart, pretty much ignore the opening/closing thing.

Now, if you're legal, go drink a Shiner Bock (beer), and buy a gun! No special reason for either, other than you can do so, without running afoul of the police and nanny state politicians!

Live from Dallas, it's Saturday afternoon. Svnla is in Dallas now, OP needs to buy us a few beers :D.

Glad to have ya'll here, OP. Enjoy the cool weather. Oh, and don't let me start with the "dry counties" rule. In East TX, you have to have "membership" to buy liquor in restaurants.

P.S - What's with stores closing down early on Sundays and stores selling only beer and wine (but no liquor)?
Texas state law treats beer and wine different from hard liquor, and have different licensing restrictions on each. As for the places closing early on Sunday, Welcome to the buckle of the bible belt :(
