hi guys, i just dl'd the cmdline seti client to replace the graphical one on my pc. is there any way to move the WU in progress over to the cmd client? right now both are running, but it'll take awhile for the graphical one to finish this wu (12 hours now, usually takes 20+ to finish). should i just ditch the one the graphical client is working on?

thanks.

nevermind. i just copied the command line client into the windows directory and it seems to be plugging away fine.

A few things to note here:

1) You should NOT have both clients running at the same time.
2) You should NOT run the same WU twice, you will not get credit for the second time

My suggestion:

Finish up the WU in GUI if it will be done soon. Then, uninstall the GUI and start running CLI. Good luck.

well. what i did was shut down the windows client, moved the cli executable to c:\program files\setiathome and started it. so, not both are running. it appears to have picked up where the windows client left off. if not, then i won't get credit for it. no biggie.

Are you using the -verbose command on your CLI? Or any other CLI monitoring program? Otherwise, how do you know the CLI is picking up the unfinished WU?

AFAIK, 1 WU cannot be processed by 2 different versions (in this case, GUI and CLI are considered 2 different versions) of SETI@home.

yeah i have verbose running.

then it must have downloaded a new one? either way, it's crunching away.

Actually, it probaly just restarted the current WU..

I have tried this one myself, and it restarted my WU..

As you say no biggie, but still 😀
