I hope to be out on my own sometime this year, i feel like such a dork being 21 and living with my parents...what was it like for you guys and what do you know now that you wish you knew when you moved out? I plan on renting an apartment or condo with a roommate or roommates, or even buy a small house with a couple friends so we can sell it later and get money back...i hate the idea of renting because you never get that money back...

You aren't going to buy a house/condo/apartment unless mommy and daddy are very rich. Or you have been saving all your pennies since you started working at the age of 15. It makes no sense otherwise.

Be careful who you move in with, they could end up being hassle when living with them. Make sure you know their habbits. i.e smoking, cleanliness etc...

What if you get a girlfriend, she might not like a house full of friends all the time.

Costs that may occur - tax, water, elec, gas, food........

i'm 21 can't afford to move out in UK - typical small but nice house in a
nice area = £100,000 / $186,000

waaa!... lol, but there must be some kind of real estate magic that would let a few guys make payments on a house for a few years...

Seriously don't let a gf determine your living situation. Room with some stable guys you know, or some friends of a friend thing.

You must have a buttload of savings living with your parents all those years...

Roommates can be fun, or they can be a problem. They may have annoying habits, such as sleeping while you're trying to play loud music, studying or reading while you're playing computer games, things of that nature. Here are a few tips to help youYou will want to split up the chores between your roommates so that you don't have to do any. Always make sure you are responsible enough to collect the money from your roommates when the phone, lights, gas, and cable get shut off for non-payment. Don't eat your buddies' cooking, unless you have lost your zest for life. I'm sure you can figure all the rest on your own, you seem like such an intelligent person! Go get 'em tiger... watch out for pubes in the butter.

Learn how to cook, ASAP. Ordering Pizza and going out costs many times what you can make for yourself that's equal to if not better in taste and quality.

Oh, that's a good point. Do you know how to cook, or are you going to rely on fast food for the rest of your life?

So you are planning to move out on $500 a month plus the possibility of $15/hr?
