Moving Mac Outlook Express mail to PC Outlook Express

Trying to move email messages from an old Mac to my PC but there's no message export function on the Mac version of OE (ver 5.0.6). Is there anyway to do this in as few steps as possible?

I think the files are simply .dbx files like in OE on windows. It would just be a matter of copying the files onto a disk, and importing them from the disk in OE.

Nope. It didn't work like that. Was a pain in the ass but I basically dragged about 200 messages at a time into a folder on the desktop, renamed them with the .eml extension and copied it to a CD and finally dragged those .eml files into the inbox folder in the Windows version of OE. Some of the messages with the same subject header didn't make it without overwriting the other messages with the same subject headers. If I would've dragged all 6000 messages out of the Mac OE, it would've crashed or freeze up the computer.

As for the Address Book, that too was a pain in the ass because the CSV exported data from the Mac didn't have the proper mapping data lined up. I had to manually edit the stupid thing in Excel in order for the fields to import properly.

I REALLY wish Microsoft (AND APPLE) would allow more flexible import/export functions in their Mac versions of applications!

Apple does. Microsoft just doesn't really care much about their software on Mac. They still use old Carbon API's and so no MS software takes advantage of the services in OS X.

huh? Ok then, where are the proper export functions in mail.app? Sure you can convert the database files directly but a simple export function would've been nice.

well, all I do for that is just copy the files and import them. I think its a general thing with email programs. IIRC, there will be improvements in Mail.app in Tiger, and I think export is one of them.
