Ok im moved into my new place with room looking for advice on what to get as far as a bedframe and mattress.

Was looking at ikea, but shopping there kinda sucks. Id like to order something online and get it delivered.

Looking for something full/queen sized, im single, gonna be living with roommates, and im living in a relatively small room. Never bought a bed before. Any pointers?

I'd get a queen, you won't regret it. I also opted for the pillow top with the low frame, otherwise it's too high. I got mine at Floor Show, but I can't remember the brand. Starts with an R....hmm

go read the tempurpedic mattress thread at fatwallet.

mattresses are pretty personal, so best to buy one locally at a place with a good exchange policy.

The price you see at stores is also between doube and triple that of what it really costs. Find a friend in the furniture industry ;) :p.

I wouldn't buy it online.... unless you went to a B&M and laid on a bunch of them, and found one YOU like.

People seem to like Costco's mattresses. We bought ours from Rooms-to-Go. Sealy brand, I think. Unpleasant shopping experience and would probably never return.

Check out Costco.
We got a nice quality king sized Sealy set for around $650. The same set would have been around $1000 in a furniture store. We've had it for a few years now and it's still just as comfortable as the day we bought it. You could probably pick up a Queen set for a couple hundred less.

I have one from Costco. Queen was $400 with the box spring. Seems to be a good deal for what you get.

3" 5.5lb memory foam ~$175.

I don't know what your budget is, but I have what you'd call a serious budget bed. I have a craptastic old mattress that is like a rock to sleep on, but I got one of these and everything is good. They help a lot, and those are super cheap.

Costco has a coupon going this week for their queen mattress (Sealy I believe), $125 off. I used to have a similar one from Sams and I loved it.

Yes, mattress stores are overpriced and are constantly having "sales" to bring you in. But I guess since they are such huge items keeping them in stock costs money. Ikea mattresses are ok, I had a couple in Europe since there weren't any cheaper options around but given the choice I'd go with Costco/Sams mattresses.

Soft Sleeper 5.5

deceptive marketing. it's not 5.5lb memory foam. it's 2.5lb.

they just named it 'Soft Sleeper 5.5' in the hopes that people think it's 5.5lb.

i would avoid these types of slick companies

Doesn't matter, still works and is super cheap. I wasn't fooled, never seen these before so had no reason to think something stupid like that.

What about BJ's? I don't have a Costco in my area :( BJ's sells one type of mattress only. It's "Bassett Prestige II" model, and the queen set costs $400.

FTW

High quality mattresses at awesome prices and the best return policy of any store!

However there are some negatives:
Not everyone has a CostCo near them, although they might deliver?
CostCo membership fee is $50 or I think 5% surchage on mattress
Normally CostCo does NOT deliver unless you order over the internet/phone and pay for delivery
The Queen size is usually on sale and that may be a little large for your room

CostCo has their annual mattress sale going on right now and I have a coupon. If you want it, it's yours. PM me your name and mailing address I'll ship it tomorrow morning USPS Priority.
