Why do people look down on Californians?
We stick out.
I know for me it was partly because I could speak in complete sentences and form logical thoughts. In basic training the drill sergeants thought I was some college wiz kid and gave me assignments that they were supposed to do. At that point, I had 1 college class. Photography.

Leave your politics in California. Plenty of people have left CA because the state government there is terrible. They move to Texas because doing very well largely because it's a much more libertarian place. Then, they become politically active and try to push liberal politics. Don't do it.

That's like when I lived in the sticks.
City dwellers visit because it's beautiful and quiet. Then they move up there.
Then they want sidewalks, street lights and Walmart. The exact stuff they moved away from.

for OP: plano is about the most anonymous and cookie cutter of dallas's many anonymous cookie cutter suburbs. it's difficult to tell one from the other and you should move to fort worth if at all possible.

Unless he sells his car won't that be kind of obvious? Besides, are people that small minded in Texas that they feel all threatened by someone moving there from California?

no, but people from california do seem to be small minded enough that they need to remind everyone that they're from california all the time.

i think it has to do with all the okie blood running around in california.

This times eleventy-quadrillion.

OP, just don't vote for anything say the first... five years or so after you get here. Don't have an opinion about anything, just soak it in, let the filthy california wash out of your mind and see how things work for a while before you go and try to ruin it like all the other damn cali-plants.

I have plenty of guns already but it can't hurt to have a few more. . i'm not bringing liberal politics anywhere, I'm trying to get away from them!
I'm looking at Plano for a few reasons: higher asian population, supposedly decent schools and supposedly low crime rate.. .. :D

Say hello to all the extra money you'll get every payday because there's no state income tax.

AND the gas is about $1/gallon cheaper. Hell, pretty much EVERYTHING is cheaper, since they're not doing the whole California "tax everything to death" thing! :awe:

Yeah, the state gov in California is terrible. Must be awesome to live in a state with great government-and Rick Perry! :)
