Moving files in subfolder

Howard

Lifer
Let's say I have this:

folder
-folder
--folder
--files
---folder
---files
----folder
----files

Doesn't really make much sense but it should serve for my purpose. Is there a way to copy/move all the files in the subfolders to the main folder?

Thanks.

...yet another reason for having multiple monitors!
Open two instances of Windows Explorer. Drag the files from one to the other. Works with a single monitor too.

I don't know if I care to be manually copying for minutes on end.

Starting in the parent folder (top folder), expand all sub-folders so you can see all files and folders.

"Ctrl + A", then while holding CTRL, left-click the folders you do not want to copy.

Now "CTRL + X" (or right-click a highlighted file > Cut), select the folder you wish to paste the files into, and "CTRL + V" (Paste) into the folder you want.

How can I see all files and folders? Are you talking about viewing all the subfolders in the left-hand-side folders bar?

Hmm, I see Windows Explorer doesn't have the ability to do what I suggested. I'm used to Nautilus and Konqueror (Linux file managers). Sorry about that.

Oh no... MINUTES! Whatever could you do for MINUTES!

I'm sorry i just think that in the time it took for this thread to have transpired you could have been done with your task multiple times over.... Windows wont physically move the files, it will just move the pointers, you wont have to sit and wait while it replicates them all, it will simply move their location within the directory structure of the drive's FAT. I mean unless we are talking about HUNDREDS of subfolders, going in manually to each folder and going ctrl+a, ctrl+x, then navigate back to the root and ctrl+v wont take more then 5 - 10 minutes. Even if we ARE talking about HUNDREDS, the method JonnyBlaze said will also take no more then a few seconds.

First of all, JonnyBlaze replied after my reply.

Second of all, shut up.

Thanks, I didn't think of that.

RM; the prog might work but I'll probably end up spending more time installing than moving, hehe
