Moving Dell 4700 to new Antec case?

Hi Folks,

I am contemplating moving my old Dell Dimension 4700 to an Antec NSK4480 computer case that has been collecting dust. But before I do that, can anyone tell me if this is actually feasible? Basically, my main concern is the motherboard. I will be using the Earthwatts 380W power supply that came with the Antec case.

Will this work?

Are there any pitfalls that I am unaware of (proprietary parts, incompatibility, etc)?

The Dimension 4700 motherboard is an Intel 915G Express. It should be a standard mATX mobo, correct?

Any help or insight would be much appreciated!

You'll just have to open up the HP and see if the motherboard mounts arew in the same place as the Antec case. If not you'll have to mod the case to make it fit.

But chances are it won't fit. Dell doesn't use standard ATX boards.

It should be able to mount in the same slots assuming that it's an ATX or microATX board. You'll need to keep the I/O shield from the old case but thats about it.

In the past, tell has used connections to a patented front PCB to actuate Power On, for front sound jacks and for front USB jacks. The pinouts of the proprietary motherboard connector has been published and you should be able to locate the appropriate pins to actuate a power-on.

Every time I've looked at moving a Dell motherboard to a non-Dell case, it was too much work to bother with.

Thank You Dell for complicating things!
