Moving 75GB of data across the bus

I am moving 75GB of data from a USB2.0 external drive to my internal 200GB drive. Do you think we will win the war before it finishes?

No it is not ALL porn....😉

It is my main Snapstream drive (every Simpson, Seinfeld, West Wing, Futurama, and misc other shows/movies ever in digital video goodness)

80GB filled up pretty fast (4 months)

😎

not all? Just 95% porn.

IT should not that that long since it's USB2.0

One can never have too much porn. Though, your new hard drive might get too excited and spill it. 😀

man thats slow. i filled a 120 gig in 2 weeks and NONE of it is porn

and BTW you think i could get my hands on thoes Futurama eps?

480 mbps = 60 MB/s bandwidth under ideal conditions.
Of course your drive will be the limiting factor and it all depends on the number of files and their fragmentation (so the seek/access time will be more important than the drive's burst speed).

It takes less than 10 minutes to move 4GB of data between drives on my computer (heh, DVDs) so 75GB won't be THAT long...could definately do it in 3 hours...

It went pretty quick.

All of my stuff is recorded with the WMV encoder that comes with Snapstream. No porn, that goes on another drive...er...I dont have porn. I think I have most of the Seinfeld episodes (comes on like 6 different times a day here), lots of Simpsons, tons of Futurama. Snapstream only records new episodes (a lot like Tivo) so I don't have to worry about dupes. I wish it had a decent commerical skip like my old VCR.

Heh, now I have enough trickplay space to pause TV now and pick it up in the morning when I wake up. Would hate to miss "awe and power" or whatever it is called.

Hmm, take the hard drive, stand at front of bus, walk to back, sit down.

That's like 75GB transfered in about 5 seconds. Not bad.

Sorry, it's been a crazy day...

😉
