The only ones that can turn out a good film is the legendendary directors who back themselves.

I watched the DVD "Inside Man" several months ago and canceled my Netflix account. Everthing was so predictable, it was an easy write.

I did see The Godfather in a theatre when it came out in the early 70's.

 Thank you uberman. You summed up the theme of this thread nicely.

oh yeah.... star wars episode 1, 2, 3, and 5

I don't know if you're just trying to be shocking or what, but The Godfather is one of the greatest American films, and Star Wars Episode 5 (The Empire Strikes Back) is pretty clearly the best of the series IMO. I also liked The Descent and, to a lesser extent, Ghost Ship.

As to the topic at hand, what's funny is I thought of the Black Dahlia as soon as I saw the thread title. What a dreadful film, particularly given that it was based on such a fascinating topic, and that I am a big James Ellroy fan. Superman Returns is another good choice - that movie really blew.

For me, 8mm and Snake Eyes (both starring Nick Cage) come to mind as two of the worst movies I've seen. The former was very hard to sit through.

I took my daughter to The Cat in the Hat. It was so bad even she wanted to leave.

Yeah, maybe it was never expected to be a great movie, but who would have guessed it would be that bad.

You didn't like the Aviator? Why? Because it didn't have guns or more planes?

I personally think it was an awesome piece of acting by Di Caprio (whom I strongly dislike). Go read a couple biographies of Hughes and you might understand why the movie was made the way it was.

well...i didnt expect it to be good...but this movie was so bad i wanted to stab my eyes when it was over...it was such a waste of my time...if i wanst so lazy i would actually try to get my $2 back AND compensation for my time...that movie pissed me off so much >(

lol

Oh please, I love when someone breaks out the end-all, be-all rating that is its Rotten Tomatoes score to backup whether a movie is good or not. That website is sheer lunacy and its rating system is laughable, how about we consult a proper movie website, oh I don't know.. like metacritic, or iMDb?

lolol: 7.4/10
lolol: 75/100

94%.. haha thats rich. I never even seen the movie either so I have no prejudice against it, I do however despise Hugh Grant.

As for the thread, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy may have been a terrific book, but it was the only movie I ever walked out on to this day.

i love rottentomatoes :p

I can't make myself unbiased enough to list movies that I just didn't like. Nevermind the acting or story.

Eragon. Not even my 12 year old brother with a flatulance problem that night, reverberating farts throughout the theater and causing me and my buddy to hold our sides laughing during the movie could fully protect us from the light rays of pure awful that were emitted by the projector. A fart has never seemed like music to my ears until that movie, his interruptions in the movies sound are the only things that kept my ear drums from exploding inward and causing my brain to shrivel up like a rotting peach. The acting in the movie is reminiscent of the middle school plays that you are forced to attend if you have a child or sibling in, and much like those plays you get to watch in horror as your loved ones make a fool of themselves on the screen. I loved the book Eragon - the movie made me want to club a baby.

I thought the fountain was outstanding, it was very well made and cinematically very pretty.

Want a bad movie ... how about Borat. It might have been the most overhyped movie. It was 2 hours of him giving middle america someone to laugh at for being "racist". It made racist jokes funny and acceptable to laugh at as long as it also makes fun of the unknowing racist.

WTH? The Aviator, About a Boy & Spider-Man 2 are shockingly bad? I love those movies.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle is the worst movie ever made. Ever. Sitting through it was an excruciating experience.
Coming close are Dumb & Dumberer, Doom, Final Destination 2, Ring 2, Dark Water, Cabin by the Lake 2.

Worst ending for a slasher/horror movie goes to Scream 3 - talk about unimaginative.

One of the worst fvcking movies I have ever seen. The only part that was remotely entertaining was the kids cursing. And there were no boobies on the unrated version! :|

Starship Troopers.
Not even half a boob from Denise Richards, what a rip.

Watch the sequel, it will give you some new found appreciation for the first one.

Starship Troopers was on of the best B movies ever made. It ranks right up there with 8 Legged Freaks and Dog Solders, IMO. Starship Troopers 2 as just plain horrible.

Blair Witch. So much hype, so little payoff.
Ultra Violet. Considering that Equilibrium was from the same guy and ruled, it's amazing that Violet sucked so hard
Starship Troopers. Planet bound bugs being able to bullseye orbiting space ships is stretching things already, never mind them hitting other planets, but what kind of crappy pilot do you have to be to not avoid projectiles coming from a planet's surface? And HTF could earth not see the big freakin rocks lobbed at it?)
Xtro (That movie is pure WTF)
Disney's The Black Hole (The ending was more WTF than 2001, IMO)
Battlefield Earth
A.I. was fvcking horrible! Wonderful talent all around, but not a braincell to spare amongst the scriptwriters or characters. Most idiotic story ever, with reams of retarded actions ("Hmm... I think I'll kill my wife in front of an android... aka, a walking camcorder." Fvcking stupid movie)
The Ring 2. The original was nice and creepy and I had been hoping for more. Sadly, no.
Eragon. Like AI, so much talent, so much waste. Hollywood should have a rule that Malcovitch is to never, ever play a bad guy in a fantasy setting. His performance in Johnny English (hell, add that to the list, too) was truly sad. In terms of historical or contemporary fiction, he does kick ass (Rounders, In the Line of Fire), but so bad in fantasy!
Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead. I saw this based on the talent behind it. It's one of two movie I have not finished in a great many years. I got to like the 80 min mark and was like "This movie isn't fvcking over for another 40 min?!" It sure felt like 2 hours by then.
Lawnmower Man 2. I've seen pieces of it. I don't want to see more.
Jaws: The Revenge. They turned the shark into a slasher movie killer, complete with offscreen teleportation and psychic link to the victim. I mean, wow. That movie gave me new respect for #3.
Jurassic Park: The Lost World. That was a money grab all around and it showed. More plot holes than you could drop that big ass armored transport through, and dumber actions than a shot-bus load of elementary school children would take.
Volcano & Dante's Peak. I want to find the people in hollywood who write volcano movies, and I want to dip them in lava. Because they haven't a clue how it works.
Cyborg. I don't know how it got so well known, considering how utterly putrid it is.
Demon Seed. The idea sounded cool, but it bored me to tears. Stupid woman who doesn't know where the breaker box is, an indestructible house, a sadistic and horny computer; combine, blend well, serve tepid. Shocker; it's based on a Dean Koontz novel.
Halloween 3. The Halloween franchise was supposed to be a series of movies, each odd and even in sequence dividing up unique, independent story. No wonder that idea tanked after his abomination.
Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Considering the hype around it and the clips of what I'd seen, I was expecting more. Such a nifty premise, doomed by the cast. The budget didn't help things either.
Wizards. I could stand... maybe 20 min. I think. God, so, so BAD. Bakshi has a private place in hell, I assure you.
Zardoz & The Russian House. I like Sean Connery quite a bit. I want to know what he was smoking (or who he needed to pay off) when he agreed to make the former movie. The latter just bored me to tears. Such a shame for a cold war spy flick.
Dungeons & Dragons. Any half-way competent writer with AD&D in their background as a teenager could have dashed off a better story in a weekend. And, really, what is it with Jeremy Irons being in sucktastic movies with dragons? Has he got something against them?
Highlander 2. See Jurassic Park 2 and Zardoz, above.
