Flags of our Fathers.

Several of the others might be entertaining, bet the only one that I really care to see is Flags of our Fathers.

That being said, war movies are my favorite type of movies.
Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor and director.

EDIT: I got carried away with my comments about the lack of the s. I know better then to be a grammar nazi, especially with how many typos I make.

So a quick review of the 25 listed movies yields:

13 are sequals
5 are based on comic books (including 2 of the sequals)
4 are rehashed from older movies/TV shows
2 are based on video games
2 are based on best selling books

That leaves exactly 1 movie based off of an original idea...

I'm sure some of them will be good movies nonetheless, but seriously, what's it going to take to get some fresh ideas in Hollywood?

i wouldnt look to 2005 for the green hornet. in fact, kevin probably wont even direct it but just write it. besides, he's currently doing post-production work on 'clerks 2: the passion of the clerks' and that has been omitted from the list as it should be an early 2006 release.

also, you should add 'a scanner darkly' to the original post/poll.

Note that the word "Flags" is plural

Note that I had "Flags" in my post, just not in the poll. I've kindly deleted any reference to it in either, you're welcome.

Munich is coming out on the 23rd, hence a 2005 movie, not 2006. Close though.

If I added every single movie supposedly coming out, the list would be huge. I simply went down a list of recently updated movies that were either guaranteed to come out, or were more than 75% likely to come out in 2006. Movies not on that list didn't make the cut, unfortunately. Also, anything that was "Limited" release didn't make it, unless there was some special reason to include it (big name star/director).

clerks 2 is a guaranteed 2006 release. in fact, kevin's already doing pre-edited screenings of the movie and i believe only has to edit out 9 more minutes last i heard. green hornet hasnt even had ink dropped on the script yet. and 'scanner darkly' is directed by richard linklater (dazed and confused, bad news bears, school of rock, before/after sunset) and stars keanu reeves, robert downey jr., woodey harrelson, and winona ryder. trust me, i think it will be a huge movie and i think it deserves a spot on the list. the early buzz on this movie is very positive.

edit: also, i hope you dont think im trying to sabotage your thread or anything like that. just want to make sure you have a good thorough updated list to work with. because i expected you to add every single movie then id also be throwing saw iii out there.

In Germany, but what does that have to do with the movies being released in 2006. 😀

It's being released in certain markets in 2005.

Exactly, thus making it a 2005 movie 😛...plus I've heard it isn't that great anyways. They did the limited release in late 2005 just to get it on the table for the Oscars, and it turns out it may not even be nominated.

I dont think I will see any of those

however statistics tell me that I will wind up in a theatre at least twice in 2006 so the chances of me seeing one of those on the lists is pretty decent.

I'm sure Munich will find its way into the Oscars somehow. Spielberg + tear-jerking drama based on historical events = Profit!

are there any movies that are original? eg. not based on past tv shows and movies?

I read the list and noticed how many sequels , trilogies, and quads there are....

i wonder if in the future we will be watching version 25 of some movies.

And they wonder why their box office receipts have been dropping....

My list of movies guaranteed to be fvcking sh!t:

Underworld 2
Scary Movie 4
Big Momma's House 2
Scary Movie 4
Superman Returns
Jurassic Park 4
Scary Movie 4
Santa Clause 3
Die Hard 4.0
Gladiator 2
Rush Hour 3
Scary Movie 4

oh, and Scary Movie 4 is going to be extra sh!t because even the first one was pathetic with a negatively exponential decline with each subsequent movie.

I enjoyed Sin City, but who knows if the second wil be any good...

Da Vinci Code
X:3 (here's hoping they don't screw up the often mined Dark Phoenix saga)
Flags of our Fathers
Pirates: 2 (works great as a summer flick - just mindless fun)

I will see all 4, but I'm only really excited about seeing Flags, kind of like Syariana this XMas season.

The guaranteed crap sequels post is hilarious and dead on. Ive never really liked the Scarey Movie flicks. And Die Hard "4.0" ??? Oh dear heavens, no.

Also, someone mentioned a new Bourne flick? I thought everybody from the last one said no? Well Matt Damon and the director at least?

If it's being made without either of them, it can be added to the crap list. The last movie kicked ass though, and is an example of a quality sequel.

You know, I'm getting kind of tired of people whining about "unoriginal" material. If it hasn't been in a film before, then it's considered new. Who cares if they're getting the idea from a comic book, a TV show, or a book? It's not like they're stealing it, in almost every case the original author/creator is directly involved, making sure that the movie will be as close to the original as possible.

Jurassic Park was a great book when it first came out, but nothing even close to sitting in a theater watching bigass dinosaurs on the screen chase around the jeep. It was simply an amazing thing to see, yet at the same time it wasn't completely "original".

So yeah, like half the list this year is based on material from another form of media, but since none of it has ever been made into a film before stop whining about it and give it a chance.

Having said that, most of the sequels probably will suck in a gigantic way, with the exception of Pirates and X-Men.
