Compiled a quick list of the movies slated to come out this year, the dates of their release (most will probably change), and a little bit of info on each. I put a * in front of the ones I'm excited about
...feel free to list the ones you're looking forward to, or any info you have to add on any of the specific movies. I'll update the list if needed.
Edit: 2/5/06
I'm removing entries a week after their release, and simply giving a "Go" or "Don't Go" to see it rating, based on different reviews.
Underworld: Evolution - Go see it if you like violence, action, and blood.
Big Momma's House 2 - Don't go see it.
Nanny McPhee - If you have kids or like kids movies, go see it.
*The Pink Panther - Go see it, pretty funny.
*V for Vendetta (2006) - March 17th
Another one I've been waiting for a while now. As much as I think the Wachowski brothers messed up the last two movies in the Matrox trilogy, you can't deny that they can make some badass action movies. Natalie Portman is also a bonus, since she's like, pretty hot and whatnot. Going to be nonstop action, lots of special effects, all that good stuff.
HD Trailers...very nice! (Thx to Wag for link)
77% at Rotten Tomatoes a week before the release!
Silent Hill (2006) - April 21st
Yet another video game turned movie, I could've sworn I had nightmares that involved something like this happening. Unfortunately, I'm not asleep, and this movie is indeed coming out. As with anything that COULD be a good movie, I'll hold final judgement until I see it, and will probably shell out a few bucks for a matinee showing, but it's not something that I'd say is a must-see.
HD Trailers
Edit: Just watched the trailer, and holy crap this actually looks good. Like they spent TIME and ENERGY on it, not just money! I may actually go see this
*Mission: Impossible III (2006) - May 5th
Tom Cruise is obviously a nut-job, but I've always like the MI movies. Obviously he'll have a mask on at some point, and will be dangling from something or jumping out of a plane, and will probably involve a highspeed chase, but it's worked before so why mess with success?
Superbowl Commercial, even in HD!
*The Da Vinci Code (2006) - May 19th
The book was great, the movie very likely will be. Tom Hanks and (once again) Jean Reno (you can't seem to make a movie involving France without him being involved?) almost guarantee this will be a popular movie, good or not. I'll go see it, only because I liked the book, with any luck it'll turn out to be worthwhile.
Trailers, in HD as well
*X-Men 3 (2006) - May 26th
Obviously this is a must-see. I can't wait to see Phoenix lay down some massive hurt on, well, anybody. It looks like shortly after the last movie, the "normal" people in society got scared and started trying to curtail the mutant "threat". So this looks to be more of a battle movie, with the mutants starting to fight back a little more aggressively. Obviously all of the same cast/characters are there, although they added Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones), Angel (Ben Foster), and Dr. MacTaggert. I'm worried about Beast, but the rest will be great.
HD Teasers
Cars (2006) - June 9th
A lot of people have been waiting on this one, seems like just another CGI animation flick to me, but with the long list of famous names doing the voices it might be alright. Hell, they even got Larry the Cableguy doing a towtruck, woohoo!
HD Teasers
Superman Returns (2006) - June 30th
I will avoid this one like the plague. Nothing more to say on it.
HD Trailers
*Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) - July 7th
I'll be first in line for this movie, very likely dragging my newborn son/daughter along to see the joy that is Johnny Depp drunk and stoned, as a pirate. The first movie was simply amazing, this one will be too. As much as I hate Disney flicks, they did right with this series.
Teaser Trailers
Miami Vice (2006) - July 28th
Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell, and a really hot Chinese actress named Gong Li. Typical story, drug dealers, undercover cops, lots of guns and explosions, that sort of thing. Looks to suck ina gigantic way, but you can never really tell these days.
Jurassic Park IV (2006) - TBA
I'm not too sure how they plan on continuing the story, although I guess that dinosaurs could keep popping up in various places around the world. I saw this on a site about it:
*Sin City 2 (2006) - TBA
People ask how they can just up and make a sequal, not realizing that there were more than one novel in the series, and this will likely have nothing to do with the first movie, other than the name and the style of the movie. I'm betting it'll kick a whole lot of ass.
Transformers (2006) - November 17th
Another I'll avoid, only because Transformers was never good to begin with. There's lots of fans though, with any luck (for them) this won't suck as badly as the last 5 or 6 attempts at "new" Transformers cartoons.
The Santa Clause 3 (2006) - November
Another family flick, not really my thing, but the first two were good for a chuckle. Tim Allen can be a really funny guy when he's not busy being a complete tool, and they can keep redoing these and keep them fresh, so it'll probably be worth checking out.
*The Green Hornet (2006) - TBA
Kevin Smith directs. That's all you need to know to go spend the money on it.
Rush Hour 3 (2006) - TBA
Chris Tucker is in it, no clue if Jackie Chan will be in it, or if Chow Yun-Fat will replace his character in it. No real story to go on at this point, but it's obviously going to be a buddy-cop kind of movie with lots of social/cultural humor.
*Scary Movie 4 (2006) - TBA
The first two were hilarious, then they went PG-13 with the third in some stupid attempt to capture more of the "young" market, and it bombed hardcore. They also moved away from the Wayans, who were the real backbone of the first two. This will be directed and produced by the same people who did the third one, but supposedly it's going for an R rating this time around. We can only hope.

Premise: (2/20/05) Nothing is firmly known about the details of this fourth movie's premise, except that it will surely involve cloned dinosaurs running around, attacking and eating people.
