Movies everyone loves that you don't get

I'll start:

1. The Big Lebowski

2. The Fifth Element (this one is not a bad movie, but I don't understand why everyone thinks it's a good movie.

Not that everyone loves this, but a few people told me how much they loved the movie Crank and after about 20 mins I shut it off.

Its all about the dude...

EDIT: I didn't really appreciate the movie till after I took a "Detective Fiction" class in college and read "The Long Goodbye" by Raymond Chandler.

That was a pure action movie (like that one movie with the guy who killed people with carrots haha). I liked the chinatown scene 😉 That woman was hot - she could do me in chinatown anytime.

Crash x 10

Had people tell me it was one of the most fantastic movies they'd seen. I thought it was corny and forced. "Maam, that right there is gasoline..."

I'm on the same wavelength as you OP, here's my list:

1. THE BIG LEBOWSKI (I love vulgarities, but this movie just... never got it)
2. Anything from Judd Apatow
3. Empire Records
4. Clerks/Dogma/Jay&Silent Bob crap
5. Fifth Element (maybe without Chris Tucker I'd like it, but doubtful)
6. Gladiator
7. Rotten Tomatoes (ridiculous ratings and cheesy layout, yet people still insist on referring to them over IMDB)
8. Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead

Lebowski took me two watchings but I love it now.
Usually if I don't understand a movie I will do the research so I can't say for certain at this point.

Anything by Quentin Tarantino. Pulp Fiction was ok, I hated the rest of them.

QFT. Well, I didn't like Pulp Fiction all that much either. I liked Reservoir Dogs, though.

Shawshank Redemption.

I mean, it's an ok movie, uplifting and whatever, but I don't get where people are coming from when they say it's one of the greatest movies of all time.

-Big Lebowski for sure.
-Pulp Fiction
-Napoleon Dynamite (ok, I'll admit I liked the movie but I had to be forced to watch it 3 or 4 times before I did).
-Pirates of the Carribbean 3 (wait, did you say confusing or just crappy??)
-Dr. Strangelove (and How I came to sit through this boring and weird movie)
-Casino Royale (the new one, the original was hillarious..."Miss Penny Goodthighs!")

More to come I'm sure.

Juno. Not sure what all the hub bub is about. My friends thought it was well written (hmmm), well directed (hmmm), and well acted (maybe I'll give them that).
