That's why I go to the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin.

18 and up only (unless accompanied by a parent), and they also serve beer/food.

babies should be banned from movies.

Totally agree.

I went to see Capote last year (two years ago?) with the wife and a friend and the couple next to us had their toddler with them (the theatre was packed, so we could not sit anywhere else).

This kid was old enough to talk and eat popcorn, then all of a sudden the mom pulls down her shirt and starts breastfeeding right next to me!! I can hear the slurping and everything and the kid saying 'no more'...ugh, just ruined the movie for me. I had to re-watch it on DVD.

LOL, you should have taken the lid off your soda cup and asked if she gives free refills with the show.

LOL...while munching popcorn and without looking away from the movie screen you just stick the cup under her boob and say "I'll have a little more please".

I dunno...people take babies to horror movies and then they scream the whole time. Then you get those little kids that go "who's that mommy?!" and "Woooowww!!" all the time.

Yeah, the Alamo Drafthouse is nice

Children are not keeping me from going to Theatres.

Paying more for a movie for two + 2 popcorns + 2 drinks than I do to fill a 40 gallon tank of gas in my truck is. This is nothing more than a short-term marketing gimmick, and will pass.

In addition to the above by Specop 007, you are correct. Watching Hostel in the Theatres has forever limited the genre of movie I will go to, because I really don't want to watch two groups of BET enthralled delinquents get into a fight over how fine those girls asses were again.

I find it difficult to have sympathy for you--you actually chose to go see Hostel in a theater...

Which still wont stop the weave wearin crowd from yellin at the screen.

Admittedly, they come along a hell of a lot less then the annoying kids but either way, thats why I have a home theater setup. I can enjoy the same movie, sit anywhere I want, pause it when I want, eat and drink what I want and the best part is? If anyone is loud or interupts the movie I can throw their ass out of my house. 😀

Those darned Blacks! What are we going to do with them Specop 007? We have the Minuteman Corps for those pesky Mexicans but there isn't one to keep those weave wearin' hooligans in check!

If they wanted me to go to the movies more they shouldn't charge an arm and a leg to go there.

Two Tickets: $20
Large Popcorn: $5
Large Soda: $5

Watching a movie I have at home and having my own popcorn and soda: $3

I used to live at the movies when it was like $5.50 to go. But double that to go and then more for the food. I'm amazed movie theaters still get a smany people as they do. Unless a movie is a HUGE something I've been waiting for, I just don't go at all.

Won't someone think of the CHILDREN?!?!?!

They did. They though down and thought "Man, those fucking children sure are fucking annoying. We should do something about them."

😛

Ha, reminds me one time I saw the King Kong remake with Naomi Watts. The few scenes where the giant bugs showed up half the audience (composed of mostly kids) were screaming ewww while the other half was telling them to please STHU.

Babies can't talk. Toddlers can. In reference to toddlers, parents shouldn't be taking them to horror movies anyways. I started taking my son to the movies when he was 2, but he stayed quiet because his mom and I told him to be quiet before entering the theater. At most, he whispers to us to say something so that it will not disturb anyone around him. Many parents look at us when we tell them stories showing about disciplined he is and their jaws drop. We are not strict either. We just know how to teach him proper manners. I think the bigger issue is the parents not teaching their kids how to behave properly in public settings. It's not the kids themselves.

As far as actual babies are concerned, if they start crying then the parents should take them out of the theater until they stop. The babies that I have seen in theaters mostly just sleep.

They need an upper age limit as well. People in their 70s+ tend to talk loudly during movies. I guess that their hearing has deteriorated so they can't whisper to each other. Also, they tend to fart, fall asleep and snore, etc.

I've had more problems with younger people, but more severe problems with older people.

Thank freaking god. I can't wait for those rules to be accepted here. :| I hate movie theaters because other people completely blow.

Now, then again, couple weeks ago I forgot to turn my cell phone off. Even though it was on silent (no ringer, not even vibrate), for some reason it still chimes like a MOFO when I get text. Oops. 🙁

Just buy an adult ticket at the automated kiosk

Sure, right after 600 little bastards buy their youth tickets going to the same movie I'm going to. Yup, that just solves everything, doesn't it. 😛

I just prefer watching movies at home. And after seeing a 60-inch Sony playing Revenge of the Sith at Circuit City (though I wasn't impressed with the speakers they had in the setup), I'm convinced you can simulate the "big-screen" experience well-enough at home.

the only problem I have with that is I hate to be the asshole neighbor with the speakers up 🙂

But in seriousness, it works, but to an extent. I don't thing there's anything that can really replace a *good* movie experience. Granted, they are hard to come by. If I had money, a dedicated theater room would come damn close 🙂

I've never once had a problem with a senior citizen at a move, however noisy teens & trailer-trash with kids in tow have been persistant problems in almost every movie I've seen in recent memeory .... I think this is a great idea!

here they banned all kids under 17 unless they are with a parent. Not a guardian, a parent. And they do a pretty good job enforcing it.

We like going to the movies. I can sit around the house any night, I like getting out.

how do they prove that?
