Anyone know where I can get some information about the Gospel of St. Thomas..

The movie was great and raises questions for me. I would like to get some information about the scroll..

Haven't seen the movie... but... the Gospel of St. Thomas???????

Maybe check the Catholic Bible??!! It's not in the "Protestant" Bible.... The Catholic Bible has 6 (i think that is the correct #) more books than the Protestant....

I'm sure many people will know better than I about the movie and reference....

Actually, the Gospel of St. Thomas is part of the New Testament Apocrypha (the 13th).

I guess in 1954 a scroll was discovered. They made a movie based on the new discovery. I hear that the most religion has refused to believe that this is the original scroll.

The movie was marketed VERY poorly. It was not scary at all and should never have been compared to the Exorcist.

i didn't hear anything about it being compared to the exorcist. i thought it was a decent movie. interesting stuff that would make an atheist like me think about religious texts. i have read through quite a few books regarding christianity, taoism, buddhism, etc. This just brought up another thing for me to think about regarding christianity.

Actually as far as I know the Gospel of St. Thomas is considered to be part of the pseudopigrapha, not the apocrypha. Basically it is considered to be a later author writing under the name of Thomas (hence 'pseudo'=false in Greek, and 'grapha'=writings in Greek). It is not given the authority that an apocryphal writing would have. Do a search on the internet, you'll find the complete manuscript somewhere, it's not that long. From what I remember of it, it is a gnostic writing, in that it promotes a duality of spirit, body and mind.
