I do agree that kids have it worst. Everything from fruit snacks to juice drinks is horribly mis-labeled as healthy.
All-in-all though, it took him over a year to return to the weight he began at.

I think that's an interesting experiment. I do similar sort of things sometimes just to see what would happen but I dont think I would do that.

With a name like Spurlock? No kidding.

You gotta be named Liam or Flannagan or O'Neill to eat nothing but potatoes all day.

<-- rampantly Irish. :p

My roommate ate a deep-friend whopper one time to see what it would do. You can imagine; it didn't go well.

Fake: Two other people ate McDonald's for 30 days and exercised and found that they actually lost weight and their cholestrol went down.

Please provide proof that it is 'fake' as you say. The other two people must have consumed the same amount of calories as the person in Super Size Me.

I guarantee you that someone who is looking to lose weight will not eat at McDonald's 3 times a day for 30 days. Anyone who does so is an idiot. <--- Not Fake.

I saw this guy on TV the other day. He seems to think that he's making brilliant social commentary. He's a bigger idiot than Michael Moore, IMO.

LOL....I'm not sure what he's bragging out for his great contribution to society. If he's pointing out the fact that eating a lot of fatty food and not exercising is bad for you and will make you fat, well then he's just stating something that we've pretty much known....SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME!

I went to the doc for a physical about 8 weeks ago. Weight was 202 (I'm 5' 10") and cholesterol was 287. Doc told me to avoid fats and cholesterol (duh).

About the same time, I started working from home, which had the added benefit of being able to eat at home rather than munch fast food on-the-go. I've dropped 15 lbs in 8 weeks. Cholesterol update will come in early August.

I think at the most, I'll eat fast food like 1x a week. Other than that, my "one meal a day" comes from something home cooked or sliced meat and cheese between 2 pieces of bread.

I'm with ya. I try to avoid fast food at all costs but for some reason I just urge to have it every once in awhile.

That's specious reasoning. So to disprove your claim, all I need to do is find three people who gained weight after eating McD's for 30 days.

The point of the movie was that McDonalds causes people to get FAT. That their food was bad for you and that you would end up with health problems. The guy didn't exercise at all in fact he tried to move as little as possible. He then complained about breathing problems.

Two others tried the 30 day McDonalds diet and found that if you do a little execise and don't eat 5000 calories ( ie this guy overate), you could lose weight and in fact remain in good health.

It doesn't matter how healthy the food is if you don't exercise.

1. The people that lost weight on McDonalds, one was paid to do it by McDonalds and ONLY ate 2000 calories a day. In other words she never ate a value meal

2. His exercise habits were in line with what the AVERAGE American does.

How can you say he overate? He ordered "meals" straight off the menu and ate everything at least once so it was not like he ate the same highest Cal. item every day.
By you definition, eating a "value meal" at mcdonalds = overeating. I think you just proved HIS point. FASTFOOD = JUNK

I have not eaten mcCrap in almost 10 years, and have only eaten fast-food maybe 3-4 times in the last 3 years. I am heather and better for it.

sheesh of course if you eat NOTHING but McDonald's super sized meals and do not exercise you are going to gain a LOT of weight.

If anyone is stupid enough to eat only McDonald's and not get some exercise they deserve whatever happens to them. Sadly it happens way to much.
I remember in High school i used to eat a LOT of fast food. but i was blessed with a high metabolism and didn't gain the weight. The school did not have much of a choice for food. The cafeteria food sucked.

Do you realize how unhealthy fast food is?

For example (from McDonalds' nutrition information Web page):

Quarter Pounder with Cheese
--Calories: 540
--Grams of Fat: 29 (45% daily value)
--Grams of Saturated Fat: 13 (63% daily value)
--Milligrams of Cholesterol: 95 (32% daily value)
--Milligrams of Sodium: 1240 (52% daily value)
Large Fries
--Calories: 520
--Grams of Fat: 25 (39% daily value)
--Grams of Saturated Fat: 4.5 (22% daily value)
--Milligrams of Cholesterol: 0 (0% daily value)
--Milligrams of Sodium: 340 (14% daily value)
Large Coke
--Calories: 310
--Grams of Fat: 0 (0% daily value)
--Grams of Saturated Fat: 0 (0% daily value)
--Milligrams of Cholesterol: 0 (0% daily value)
--Milligrams of Sodium: 30 (1% daily value)

TOTAL
--Calories: 1370 (68.5% of a 2000 calorie diet)
--Grams of Fat: 54 (84% daily value)
--Grams of Saturated Fat: 17.5 (85% daily value)
--Milligrams of Cholesterol: 95 (32% daily value)
--Milligrams of Sodium: 1610 (68% daily value)

Spin it all you want, but those are not healthy numbers. Cholesterol is in the bearable zone, but you'd better not eat much more fat or sodium the rest of the day... and you'll have only 630 calories to spare.

The selections above are not the worst I could have chosen... Big Macs, Big & Tasty (Big & Nasty) with Cheese, Double Quarter Pounders and 20-piece McNuggets are even worse. And Super Size portions are not even shown on the nutrition chart. Most Web sites seem to indicate that Super Sizing the above meal would increase it to 1550 calories.

Realize that I was a fast food junkie up until early May, somewhat overweight, and my cholesterol was through the roof (thanks to a McDonalds Bacon Egg and Cheese almost every work day). I feel much more healthy (and lost 15 pounds) now that I've cut down on eating out.

Take a look at the Deluxe Breakfast if you want some truly shocking numbers. :Q

I love to see these people who seem like they've never even seen the movie commentating negatively on it. You realize the majority of the movie wasn't even about what McDonald's food did to him? There were other things touched on; like how these types of corporations market specifically towards extremely young age groups to create a brand loyalty at the age of 4 or 5 to a product that at the time these children don't know is detremental to their health. It also goes on to talk about the food served in public schools, the companies that provide the food, the health content of the meals (or lack there of), how the admin of the schools turn a blind eye to the fact, etc... etc...

As for the people that lost weight; just as I said in my PREVIOUS POST; he ate using the proportions dictated by McD's; HE ONLY ATE SUPER SIZED MEALS IF ASKED IF HE WANTED THEM (7 times). They talked about how the proportions have increased astronomically since these chain fast rood restaurants came into existance; how the regular size is now the kiddy size.

Jesus Christ; some of you are so adiment against something you don't even warrant the ability to be against as I can guarantee those bitching haven't even seen the film. Its about more then McD's is bad for you.

So for the record; neither one of you actually saw the film; rather are just talking out your asses? Great.

I don't think ATOT film critics are willing to shell out $$$ to see this in the small theaters

Perhaps people shouldn't commentate 110% negative on films they haven't seen is all I'm asking. Its not like this documentary is the latest P.O.S. "Rock" movie or "White Chicks."
