$3.75 for the first showing (around 11:30...11:45), $5 before 5:30pm and then it's $7 or $7.50, otherwise.

why they are called "Loews" is anyone's guess because their prices are anything BUT low. :frown:

I don't go to the theater much unless it's something I have to see on the big screen at least once. (Matrix Reloaded, Lord of the Rings, etc.). I'd rather just wait for it to come out on DVD and buy or rent it. Seeing movies in the theater is hella expensive unless you go to a matinee and if you don't sneak food in with you. Not to mention, I absolutely hate having my personal space invaded by some stranger sitting next to me in the theater.

Movies around here are $9.50-$10 but a Loews just started a price war and movies there are now $6. Nice to see competition at work.

It's not so much the movie prices that bother me, but the price of soda, candy and popcorn... You get absolutely RAPED. It's stupid.

How can they charge so much??? 3$ for a 32oz pop? 2$ for a box of candy? 4$ for a medium bucket of popcorn? WTF?

Obviously, they can/do because people go for it. What the hell is wrong with you people?

:p

The experience is wonderful, and it looks really nice now, but I wonder if they are really justified in jacking the price up by $1.50 a head. It cost my wife and me $9.00 to see T3 last night. I mean, when we went to see Matrix Reloaded a few weeks ago, it was still only $3.00 each. I don't know if any movie is worth $4.50. Sorry, I had to do it. I know I have one of the best setups in the area, and the prices are rock-bottom. The shows in the next town down the road are between $8-$9 a head. When I was still in college, this place that only had 2 screens only charged $1. So, how much to you guys spend on movies?

$8.75 for a fvcking ticket. Stop complaining about $4.50

You're whining about $4.50 to see a movie AT NIGHT? Oh dear gawd, get out of the fvcking boonies and come to a real movie theater. It cost more than that to see a matinee movie here.

Wow, KC5AV, besides the long tradition of people not reading entire threads, apparently now they can't even be bothered to read the entire first post :p

noone who pays the prices should moan about them. They would go down if people would stop paying the prices for them.

About 8.50-9.00 on average in the Washington-Baltimore area.

Saw "28 Days Later" last week and it may be the last time I buy consessions. Ticket was 8.50 and a large (not "SUPERSIZE" ... just Large) soda and popcorn came to $9.57! Time to go back to my childhood days and just carry in some sweet tarts or something!

No kidding... folks I was joking. I know I have cheap prices here. That's why I said

I was just wondering what the rest of the country was like.

Lucky
I pay $7.75 at home.
At least at school it's only $3 with student discount, but it's always older just out the theater movies.

$4.50

In Biloxi, MS it's like $9 at the UA theater, but then again everything in Biloxi is a rip off except for the casino buffets.

Heh like viper said the concessions stand is the bread and butter of the theater, if no one bought food they'd be out of business.

Here in the middle of country surrounded by nothing but like cows and corn I pay about $6 for a ticket even. I won't complain though. I'd spend that on a bad lunch from mcdonalds. I love going to the theater though. Sometimes the other people can get annoying, but if you really love movies nothing can compare to seeing a good movie on a big screen with the awesome sound, etc. Having a home theater is nice, but unless you're just filthy rich, its still not as nice as a real movie theater.
