I was wondering if there is an alternitive free video editor to Movie Maker. When I use it some parts lag and I don't want that. If not is there a way to fix this lag?

Actually, WMM is not a poor performer. What tasks are taking long to do?

You realize that video editing is about one of the hardest tasks you can put a desktop computer to do, right? Even on a dual processor with HT, there are encoding tasks that take 5 hours (2 pass VBR MPEG2 with Tsunami set to max quality). WMV generation can run at real-time or slower depending on quality. Other codec generators take an even longer for the same quality.

Well. for instance when I try to play the scene I just created, I try to match it up to the music and sometimes it flows by perfectly, but sometimes it freezes for a second like the frame rates drop or somthing. It's not really in between the selected frames all the time, somtimes it is in the middle of a selected scene. Any clue what I could do better?
