Movie for home theater.

Please suggest me an action movie to test my home theater system.

I just finished installing the 5.1 speakers for the 240Hz LCD TV & bluray player.

Thanks

HighDefDigest's review archive, sorted video quality-wise, descending order. Credible site, quality reviews though probably not as anal as the AVSForum guys. 😛 I just did a quick comparison and some of their 5-star titles seem to show in Tier 1 rather than Tier 0 on AVSForum's thread.

Still a good source.

State Of Play, looks great and sounded good on my new setup, and I ended up with Denon 989 AV receiver that worked perfectly out of the box (10 minutes setup) instead of the lame Yamaha that took over 2 hours and I couldn't get the audio to work.

Thanks everyone.

Perfect link... there are so many possibilities. Hollywood is so obsessed with sound today, most any new release will work on one level or another.

The Armageddon shuttle launch scene...
The Patriot (Mel Gibson version) scene where he cuts down the red coats that killed his kid
Pretty much anything from Dark Knight
Drum Line final showdown scene
Several scenes in Mr & Mrs Smith
Saving Private Ryan... you already know the scene
Batman (with Ahnold and Jim Carrey - can't remember which one) the scene with the Riddler, "who's afraid of the big black bat?"
Apollo 13 Launch
Independence Day 'shoot the can off the space ship' scene. Subtle but cool...
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk with the USC marching band
Master and Commander - Most any battle scene

I'm forgetting a hundred more... I've been in this business too long.

Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down, Ironman, Incredible Hulk, Knowing (the scene with the plane, z...o...m...g), lots of movies out there to push a system.

But... no matter how impressive the scene, he'd have to burn his system down after contaminating it with that crappy movie.

Video: Pirates of the Caribbean (Any)
Sound: Master and Command or Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City

My favorite combination of video and audio: Band of Brothers

I recently picked up Braveheart on blu-ray and was most impressed with the video quality of this movie. Ironman is also very good on blu-ray and a great movie too. Those two are must haves IMO.

Yea, but that and the subway scene make up for it, but yea it's pretty not good.

Forgot...Transformers, and when part II comes out, whoa.

I would also add 300.

No. The movie was better than I expected (expectations were low as I was one of the few who hated Sin City), but the overwhelming amounts of intentional film grain (digitally coposted/added) just makes it impossible to properly show off a home theater's video quality.

Superman Returns is another crappy movie with a GREAT demo material plane scene.

Watch the new Star Trek movie.

Although I didn't really like the soundtrack for it at first, it's growing on me now. I really do like the intro scene with the USS Kelvin.
