RottenTomatoes is about 14% for that movie, but a bright soul gives this review:

"Not only Shyamalan's scariest and funniest movie to date, but also his most accomplished"

You just have to laugh. He probably got a free one-year supply of artifically-flavored popcorn, for "publishing" that comment.

BTW, I went there because I read this article on Reuters:
It will suck, we told you so. Signed: Disney Studios

Scary and funny. Sounds pretty opposite.

The movie is going to suck and there is no way in hell I will see this until I can watch it on DVD. I have been sucked into other movies thorugh his stupid marketting ploy marketting movies as completely different genres than they actually are.

Shyamalan sucks, period. His only good movie was The Sixth Sense, and that was probably cause his style was new at the time.

I thought Unbreakable and The Village were pretty good as well. Signs, on the other hand was outright stupid.

I doubt very much the AT crowd would like any movies that did not have bodies being blown up in slow motion or big breasted women running down the street screaming.

I think Unbreakable is a great film. I haven't seen the village yet so I can't comment on that film, but Signs was an OK summer flick.

No, I think most would just agree that Shamalamadingdong is a fvcking hack. Have you even watched the crap he makes?

Sixth Sense was good. Signs was "okay" but ruined by an IDIOTIC premise revealed at the end of the movie. I have to admit I kind of enjoyed Unbreakable, but that may have been due more to casting choices. The Village was crap... and I'm not sure I'll even rent this Lady in the Water movie. Maybe it won't last long in the theaters and I can catch it on Encore in a couple months. :p

Ok, let's see here. You say Shyamalan is a hack, and yet you gave at least an "okay" rating to 3 of his 5 major pictures.

Yes, the critics are useless.

CRITICAL CONSENSUS
A far-fetched story

M. Night Shyamalan left Disney when the studio refused to make his new movie "Lady in the Water," based on his own fairytale

OH CRAP! A FAR FETCHED FAIRYTALE!.
Someone called the goddamn po-lice! And while you're at it, arrest the makers of Herbie, because it's far fetched! A car that can drive itself, likes Irish coffee, falls in love, and can split in half and keep going?!?!? Far fetched it is not

Seriously!

Still, that having been said, I think the movie looks stupid.

6th Sense > Signs > Unbreakable > The Village

Not sure where Lady in the Water will fit in with that... but yeah, apart from Signs and the 6th Sense, his movies aren't good.

I agree.
I also believe that critics in general are useless people.
They cant even follow the old addage of "if you cant do, teach". All they're good for is crapping on other people who take the time and energy to accomplish things they cant.

The only critic I respect is Paula Abdul. (Actually, I didnt even know she was one of the judges on American Idol until just recently.)
Because we know she is a big entertainer. She can sing and dance and show her goodies off.
Its OK for her to critcize singers and dancers.

Just came back from the Lady in the Water.

Very slow and parts seem illogical.

No blood, gore or for the OT crowd (any boobs)
No real quality acting.
No good special effects.

Low grade movie

For $5 OK
For $10 - No

I hear many people say that The Village sucked probrably because it wasnt what they thought it was (big exciting omg ending). Well I liked it because it wasnt what i thought it was going to be. The ending was a bit dissapointing but at the same time a relief because it wasnt predictable "like many movies" until the truth about the monster was revealed.

Signs, well without Mel it probrably would have been worse. But the story was still pretty ok and had the "Things happen for a reason theme"

Unbreakable, Was cool. Bruce + Samuel worth watching.

The sixth sense was definitely the best one. "I see dead people" What more could you ask for?.

Lady in the water i will probrably watch but from what i have seen in the previews i have my concerns. "Another wolrd through the pool + werewolf like monster....hmmI will watch before I criticize.

I figured out what the village was all about bfore the movie was halfway finished. I mean all of it. It started with me thinking, "Hey what if they're really in the present day and decided to go live in the woods to get away from the corruption of the real world?". It was just an idle thought at the time because I figured that there would have to be a plot twist somewhere in the movie. The more stuff that was revealed like the little boxes in all the elder's homes, the realization that such a society would need something like the monsters to keep it's people there the more certain I was of the plot.

I say it's not a good movie because I want real monsters or at least a plot twist I can't see coming.
