Thanks, i know.

Do you have any clue who you'll be truly impacting?

You'll just be making the day miserable for a thousand poli-sci students who will waste their internship time answering your prank calls.

Grow up.

ahh, no. I'm not against war. I'm against this war right now. now is definitely not the time. maybe others have other reaons, but i got my own. i want to focus on getting bin fckin laden. i want to focus more on issues at home. sadaam still hasn't posed a real threat, and our leaders know this, yet they have already sent our soldiers to the region. too bad bush's daughters aren't serving. Maybe then he would have reconsidered.

Grow up? It has nothing to do with the poli-sci students. it has everything to do with sending a message. the more people that do it, the more we get the point across to our stupid leaders that this is not the time. anyways, 10 more mins to go!

Read my post again:

The only people you will have ANY impact on are the twenty-something college students who answer phones, send faxes, and type memos.

You might as well protest player trades by prank calling the season ticket holders.

If you truly want to make a difference, or effect change, there are ways you can do it. But stupid crap like this is a waste of everyone's time.

You know...if your efforts were put forth to something actually USEFUL, then, yeah, something might get accomplished. You see, you still fail to realize it's not President Bush that wants this war. Attacking Saddam Hussein is a consequence of him continuing to defy U.N. resolutions. At which point would you finally agree to attack him? After he's launched bio/chem weapons towards his neighbors or his own people? I can hear your rhetoric already....

no i know what you meant, but when those poli sci students go into Senator Hutchinson's office and say "Senator, the phones have been jammed with people expressing anti-war sentiments," she'll have something to think about if she wants our votes next term.

politics is a dirty game, people don't really care about issues. they care about votes. and this is my way of expressing my lack of confidence for my senators.

he's been attacking his own people for years. where were you guys crying then? he IS defying 1441, but won't we be defying what the majority of the UN wants by attacking anyway?

how idiotic is this statement, without war the population would be a lot greater. Sure we might not be here without it, your grandfather might have tripped and killed himself instead of fighting in a war where a lot of people that will never exist's grandfathers died. Anyway, while we're on the subject go watch "hearts and minds" if you have not seen it. It is 100X more important and relevant to the times than anything coming out of hollywood or your local television stations these days.

My g/f was an intern in a Congressman's office last semester. She did not report to the Congressman.

Do you realize how small Congressmen's offices are? How tiny their staff is? I walked through the halls & saw many of their offices, there's barely room to open the door & walk in. My livingroom has more space than their offices. Yet there was still at least one level of authority between the interns & the office holder.

Now multiply that by a large number, & spread it across multiple offices. There are over 400 Congressman, there are but 100 Senators. Most have more than one office, each of which has a larger staff than a Congressman would ever dream of having.

Get it yet?

You should call because was has solved so few problems like.....
Hitler and the Nazis
Mussolini and the fascists
the Japanese
slavery
repression
totalitarianism
freedom from Britian for Americans
freedome for Kuiaties from Iraqies
saved Frenches @ss twice
communism
genocide
the Holocaust

yeah war is not the answer
rolleye.gif
Then in your world the Nazis are free to kill Jews and anyone else they consider "undesirible" (homosexuals, gypsies, slavs, mentally challeged and physically handicaped) and everyone is repressed. Guess war has SOLVED major problems.

PS just for the record SherEPunjab how would YOU solve the problem. (UN inspections dont work and we proved that so what would you do--besides dodge the question.)

how can you compare these things with a straight face, it is not the same thing. Please tell me how the United States helped to systematically slaughter over 200,000 East Timorese from 1975-1999, oh, you probably don't know anything about that.

just got off the phone with senator hutchinson's office (tx). first call line was busy, second call i got through. spoke with a young guy, probably my age, probably a poli sci intern. :D.

Whatever you have to say Viper, my one call certainly makes more of a difference than just posting on atot, now doesn't it? so whether she gets my particular message that i delivered to her 'intern' or not, at least i tried to make a difference. if you have any better ideas on expressing my discontent for the war that won't require me to spend a lot of money or give too much of my time (i'm a businessman, not a political activist), do tell. but i feel better than if i had not done anything at all.

Quickie: If now isn't the time when is? You're deluding yourself if you think Saddamn will go along with resolutions.

So, given that undeniable factoid, all that remains is: Do you think that continuing dismissal of UN resolutions is reason enough for a war against Iraq? That's the question. It's not "Can we make these inspections work?" They don't, and we can't. So ask yourself: Do you think that Iraq in its continued non-compliance warrants an attack or not? It has nothing to do with inspections, which always have and always will fail.

how can you prove that they will always fair, whatever happened to the countries that said they would pay to triple the amount of inspectors working in Iraq, why was that shot down so fast? how could triple the inspectors do anything but help the situation?
