moved to new address... what about insurance?

Changed DMV information already, must I change my address with the auto insurance company as well? Do they check ? My parents are still the old address...

Your rates could depend on the distances that you drive to / from work, etc. It might be a good idea to pass the correct address on to your insurance company.

moved to new address... what about...
From the way your title was worded, I expected to open this thread up and find out that you didn't have your g@y porno mags routed to your new address. :Q :Q :Q

There I fixed the title for ya. 😉

I found that the new town (which is 4 miles over) will cost me $65/6 months MORE. But I guess what you're saying is that I do not have to change it, since they don't verify with DMV records ? I can't believe it'll cost me more now that I've turned 25 (old policy I was 24), plus I'll be driving much less (fewer days to work).

or your rate could go up because you moved from a less crime zipcode to a higher crime one.

Yes it could happen, but You need to call and change the address of your policy....it could also go down as well, just depending on your insurance co. rating system.
If you have your own policy from your parents, and you moved, you need to change it.

Yup, it's gone up because of that... mainly because I presume it's in the same town as a major Long Island Rail Road stop (but the house isn't even close to it). I've had my own policy for a while now... so that's not a factor. Either way, I'm not going to change the address with insurance if I don't have to. I'm gathering I don't...

I spent the last few years working for 2 different auto insurance companies. Call your insurance company, based on your zipcode you're rates can go up or even DOWN, you might even be closer to work. If you aren't closer to work you can fudge a little and say that your work is less than 3miles away (thats pleasure usage, the cheapest usage).

Edit: You HAVE to change it. Renewal periods they run history checks and will find the new address you were holding out on and the date you changed it. You could have your insurance non-renewed for that.
