PNY = :-(

you don't like pny 6600gt video card? why is that? how is this card compare to the xfx geforce 6600GT
the pny has all the same features as the xfx, same core clock, 2 dx dvi + s-video, 128mb, apg 8x. I don't see the differences except the brand name.

I just tried to do this very thing and the people at the bestbuy could not provide me with any receipt or raincheck or verification of the price of the PNY 6800GT.
After talking to several people the managersaid, I can't sell you something thats not in the store and does not appear on bestbuy.com.

I insisting that since it had a PKU number in the system with a price that the computer said was vvalid today they needed to honor their
advertisement for any pny 25% off. More blah blah blah from then until he said to the computer sales to give me 25% off any video card in the store or online.
Well F#$k me, cause their are no PCI-express video cards in the store except for an ati radeonx700pro for 200$ or the online PNY 6600GT, 6600.

I bought the ati for 150$. Any way I could have price matched a better deal? I guess its just another BB sob story.

Thanks

ha! i worked at a hardware distributor this summer. and i learned some inside info. MSI basically manufactures all geforce based GFX cards and everything is rebadged for the buyers. Sapphire manufactures 98% of all ATI cards (including the "ati branded" cards). Brand is not everything and there is no way every manufacturer makes their own stuff, it'd just cost too much. Did you know Asus (Taiwan) produces Sony notebooks? sony dvd burners were made by optorite/accesstek. Asus makes the ipod shuffle... a company named Compal supplies notebooks to alienware, sager, and the rest of the big names out there. Also, Quanta Computer (Taiwan) has the rights to produce the upcoming apple G5 powerbook.,,

It all comes down to which brand name stands behind their cards better if you have a problem.

I personally had image quality issues with their 6800. I don't know about this card, though. It's just one of those things where they made a couple bad products, so now people will stay away for awhile.

i check out many video cards. here is the llink that i create to compare them. tell me what is so special about the other two compare to PNY. is it because they offer better accessories package or warranty or "IS IT BECAUSE PNY CARD PERFORMS THE BADDEST OF ALL?" here is a link to those who interested in more of the 6600GT products.

You know what ive ALLWAYS thought?

Somebody needs to make a website to document whos who, rebadged stuff and what company makes what..... its such important info so many generics selling same stuff as name brand fraction of the price. So many companys intertwined.

Really would be great if someone started a site dedicated to this information, or hell.. least a topic. You just touched the tip of the iceberg... power is knowledge!
