You miss mommy, and the comfort of having someone near you, be it anyone. Its not the bed, its you, and the fact your alone. You will get over it, just takes time to fully leave a nest. No greater feeling through when you do get over it all and you have the place all to yourself without the need of having to have someone there living with you.

But when I read you went home and slept great, till noon, and changed bed to spring, and still cant sleep, that was it for me to know whats up, your mental in the head, and its a comfort thing as far as having someone, anyone, with you. Mostly a comfortable atmosphere like home. You werent too cool even with a room mate for you said you couldnt really sleep worth a shit there either, and it wasnt the bed, its all about not being at home, in the comfort zone of the parents and that atmostphere you were used to thats keeping you from getting a good nights sleep, and till you can get over that somehow, you wont get a good nights sleep and you better start figuring out how.

Maybe bring something from your parents place to bring the scent of home to the new place, you can put in your room, or use the same detergents your parents used, or grab the old bed and give your parents the new one, just something to bring over to trick your mind as you drift off into thinking your at home till it wears off and you dont need it no more.

What do you usually do the hour before you go to bed?
Do you go to bed at the same times as previous living arrangements?
Do you have a concern (ie problem) that need to be dealt with?
Do you sleep in the same direction (east west south north) as before?
Are you comfortable (happy) about where you live?
Are you lonely?
Is living alone all it's cracked up to be?
What's the orientation of your bed to the bedroom door? (ie, does the foot of the bed point toward the door, or is the head of the bed on the same wall as the door?)

Well i have some good news. with all of the fantatsic information given in this thread, i went over to my parents house and picked up my pillow, blanket and fan and tried sleeping with them. felt alot more comfortable with them however i was still unable to sleep, was still tossing and turning at around 4am. decided that i was not going to toss and turn anymore, lay on my side without moving and close my eyes for 20 minutes and i fell asleep. woke up at around 8am so i think its a good sign.

Do you sleep with any sort of white noise? If not, try a fan.

I can't sleep without some sort of white noise. You may have gotten used to the background noise of having a roommate and now it is too quiet.

another vote for white noise. i use a fan year round.

Yeah I like having a fan too, but I can sleep just fine without one. I think this is a mental thing. Stop thinking about not being able to sleep. When you're tired, go to bed and think about what you have to do tomorrow. I think the fact that you're discussing it so much is only making it worse.
