Moved into dorm, wierd computer problems

I just moved into my dorm yesterday, and I am experiencing weird problems with my desktop. It is a Dell 8300, but I have added some stuff to it and I know enough about computers. My computer ran like a champ at home, but here it seems slower. I moved the tower off my desk and onto the floor and things improved somewhat. Now the problems I am having is windows will not shut down, and it starts to end programs not responding. This did not happen before I cam to the dorm. ANother problem I have is iTunes will not start up when I click on it. Any ideas?

Heh, dorms are notorious breeding grounds for viruses (computer viruses that is). It's not unheard of for a PC to get infected within minutes of connecting to a campus LAN.
