Mousepad color lengthens battery life for cordless mouse

I just read that a German site (Chip magazine) did some tests and found that a white mousepad greatly extends the battery life when using a cordless mouse.

Of course, I can't read German so I can't find the specific story there, but it was allegedly claimed that using a white surface would double the battery life.
