Mouse trouble

[Darn]

I have a microsoft serial mouse that keeps hanging on me. The mouse pointer will travel horizontally but will not vertically for a few seconds then it starts working again. The problem happens randomly and is not associated with cpu or memory load.

This may sound simple but, did you try cleaning the rollers. Mine get gunked up really fast and it creats weird movements. Just a thought.

It is clean. It works most of the time but occasionally the pointer just will not go up or down for a few seconds and then suddenly its back to normal. I have a new mouse on order but I wanted to see if I could findout what is wrong.
