I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical plugged into the PS2 port on my Gigabyte 815E chipset motherboard. When I turn the PC off, the mouse continues to glow. Does anyone know how to fix this?

unplug the powersupply... other than that i'm not sure if it's fixable. for some reason the ps2 ports remain powered even after the computer shuts down.

Why is it a problem? I believe some many motherboards like to keep the power on to those ports for advanced power on features. ie: turning on the computer with mouse or keyboard (password, key command, button click)

Its an option in the BIOS, but I'm not sure it would it actually stop powering those ports. Just an idea.

I'm confused..I thought it was the USB mice that stayed on? I have an IntelliMouse with IntelliEye runnig PS/2, and it turns off fine. Atleast I think it does, I never turn my computer off. :)

I have the same mouse with an ECS board in the PS2 port and it does the same thing. If you pull the plug it will go out, but it doesn't bother me so I don't worry about it.

Here is the story with MS Intellimouse Optical series:

If your mouse is connected to PS/2, the light will stay on, even although computer has been powered off. You will need to completely disconnect the power in order to light to turn off

If your mouse is connected to USB, the light will turn off when you turn off your computer, put in standy mode or hibernate.

Also, it doesn't matter what kind of motherboard you're using or what BIOS settings you're applying, statements above are true for every situation.
